Chapter 13x: The Peddler Merlinus
Having left Santaruz our group is out camping for the night before they head off towards Laus the next day. Suddenly a fleeing man asks them for their help in stopping some bandits. Well, time to get out of bed and into battle...
This is a fog of war map and our objective is to defend Merlinus, a small-time merchant who is situated on a little patch of land in the centre of the map. We must defend him for seven turns.
The best thing about this chapter is that you can rescue Merlinus and carry him around with you, that way no enemies can ever truly reach him making it not that dfficult a chapter.
Send your units off in various different directions, send Matthew or Guy to the south-east to deal with the brigands that are standing on the forts there. Send the other to the east to kill the myrmidon and mage that are on that side.
The bulk of your force will be heading north to converge with the enemies there, and then due westward to fight the boss. Marcus in the meantime will be useful and head off and visit the village.
Nomad and Myrmidon reinforcements will appear on some of the turns on forts beside the boss, who is in the north-west and they will break down the snags in the north of the map. Wait for them to come over the bridge before engaging in combat, this way they can't fly out of the darkness and surprise you.
The boss moves if you get in range of him so lure him out when you have defeated most of the other enemies.
