Chapter 14: False Friends
Walkthrough
Having arrived in Laus we are met by the lords son, Erik, who wishes to discuss things with Eliwood and Hector. Things swiftly take a turn for the worse as soldiers spring out of hiding places to attack. How could Erik betray us like this,,,?
This is a rout chapter filled with Cavaliers and downpours of rain every 2 - 3 turns. It can be a royal pain if you make some mistakes.
We are given use of the preparations screen for the first time in Eliwoods mode, luckily we're allowed bring all our units so no tough decision making just yet.
Erk appears from the northern village on turn 1, and immediately starts heading towards the west to fight all the enemies there, set up your units so that either Lowen or Marcus can reach him on turn 1 / 2 and rescue him and bring him to safety. Or else leave Serra close by so that she can talk to him on turn 2. If you just leave him alone for the first few turns he will run off thinking he's level 20 and get himself killed.
Kill the units directly to the east with Bartre and Dorcas and send the rest of your units westward. On the next turn after the enemies have moved up, kill as many of them as you can on your turn. The soldiers are no trouble and the Nomads are weak, it's the cavaliers that can hit hard if allowed the chance.
On the fourth turn, Pirates begin to appear from the forts in the south-west and they head westwards towards the southern village. Leave a few weaker units that you want to gain some exp on the beach, lying in wait for the pirates to arrive ashore. The pirates are easy experience for anybody, and not at all hard to defeat.
At the same time though, brigands appear from the mountains in the north-east heading for the northern village. If that village has been visited, they head southwards towards the southern one. You need to visit the southern village before turn eight, or else it will be destroyed. You can charge there with Marcus, and once you do visit it, we recruit Priscilla.
The rest of the map isn't difficult, there are a few cavaliers around the boss, but you can lure them out with Oswin and Hector who will take care of them in no time at all. Once the boss is down, all that's left are a few archers on the western side and that's it.
A point to note however, the pirates will head back to the forts in the sea if you leave them alive with very little health. This will waste up to 4 - 5 turns and waste valuable time, and probably ruin your strategy rating. Under no circumstances let this happen.
