Sealed Sword Chapter 11 B: Escape to Freedom
Walkthrough
Roy follows Elphin's lead to the southern tip of the Isles until they reach Castle Edina. A fortress that houses the kidnapped villagers until they are shipped off to the mines in the north. Can Roy free the villagers are capture the fortress before more atrocities are commited?
This chapter is not difficult. There isn't too much going on, we start off in the north-east with two different paths we can follow, one to the east and one to the south. 4 villagers escape from the castle on the first turn and are on the eastern side. They will move up the eastern side and try to escape out of the map via our starting position. To get there though, they have to get past a horde of enemies and a ballista. We have a problem.
Split your group into two, one to head west and one to head south. The group that goes west should include either Fir so she can recruit Bartre, who appears from there on turn 9. You can use Roy to recruit him, but Roy is needed to recruit Geese who appears from the village on turn 5. The western group should also include a strong sword user to take down the berserker stationed there.
The good news about the ballista hidden inside the mountain range is that it won't attack the villagers as long as one of your units is in range. That's what the southern group is for. Bring somebody with high defence like Bors or one of the cavaliers and just leave them in range of this ballista to tank the shots. Leave them in range of both if you feel like. This will waste the shots and after five turns it can't be used anymore. The rest of that group is down there to defeat the enemies located there, and to crush the pirate reinforcements that appear from the forts out in the sea.
Start the chapter, on the first turn move your units out to defeat the initial few enemies. Turn 2, send the units you've chosen towards the rest, move your tanky unit into range of the ballista and start funnelling the rest of your units down over the bridge towards the southern area.
Nothing happens for a few turns, move around at your leisure. At the end of turn 5, Geese appears from the village and he will try and take on the pirate reinforcements all on his own. Recruit him with Roy and start killing the pirates. Heal up if necessary, visit the village and move towards the second bridge on the south side.
By turn 5, the villagers on the western side will be getting dangerously close to those enemies in the north-west. Your group should reach there by now, lure out the berserker and gang up on him. Take care of the rest of the enemies and usher the villagers on through. On turn 6 a druid, shaman and an archer appear from the castle and start moving up that western pathway. The Druid hits hard so be very careful when fighting him.
On turn 9, when the druid and co have just passed over the little bridge on the western side, Bartre and two fighters will appear. They will immediately go straight for the druid and his friends, but after that they will rush southwards to kill themselves against the bosses lance. Recruit Bartre with Fir and begin moving southward.
Once Bartre has been recruited, both groups can move towards the castle to defeat the boss. Reinforcements appear from the castle at different intervals so be wary, normally it's two fighters that appear, but sometimes it's a mercenary and an archer. Don't leave any weak or unhealed units in range of the castle if you think they might die. Then, just head for the boss.

Defeat: "The resistance forces in this area have been eliminated... Who...are you people...?" |
| Defeat |
Not too much trouble, the Armorslayer is best because he's initially using an axe. Try to not let him change weapons as the other two are very deadly, especially if alan/lance are the most trained units of your team. |
