Chapter 26x: Night of Farewells
Walkthrough
Having rescued Nino from the clutches of Ursula we join our heroes as they are sleeping in a nearby town. Nino and Jaffar decide to sneak out at night to seek out Sonia to confront her about the truth. Little do they know that our heroes know where they're going and decide to follow.
This chapter is one royal pain. It's long length ways and is made up of tons of little platforms floating on water that are separated by small walkways. The problem is that these walkways appear and dissapear on given turns, both opening up new routes for you to travel and taking away other routes.
If one of your units is standing in the middle of a walkway on the turn that it dissapears will leave them completely stranded, unable to move on the water.
The make-up of this chapter is quite annoying, we are positioned on a platform of the western side. Sonia sits on a throne on the eastern side that can only be accesed by heading to the south east first.
There are various strong enemies around the map and reinforcements that spawn every turn. These reinforcements aren't too dificult as they are all unpremoted units and your troupe should have quite a few people promoted at this stage.
The main enemies to start off with at the beginning are the mage and sage in the south west that carry Bolting. From their position they can hit your team, so make sure you don't leave weak units in range.
Fliers excel in this map, a trained Florina, Fiora or Heath wreaks havoc all over this map, they can fly to each platform and take out annoying units early. They can rescue units that get left behind and just zoom around the map clearing up and crushing the enemy.
If you don't have any trained fliers, the strategy isn't that much different, just the map takes a little longer.
The pathways that appear are set and I will have a list of them soon, make sure you leave the first platform with your entire troupe when the path towards the central platform opens. The pathway from the main one dissapears about 3 turns later and never reappaears, it's very easy to get stuck there.
From the start we get a new unit, Jaffar who we rescued from the previous chapter. We also are required to bring Nino, so protect her as she is only level five at this point. She has great growth rates if you are willing to train her but my guess is you already have a properly trained team.
Have a flier head due south to take out the Sage and have the rest of your team wait. The northern path will appear on turn 2 along with a load of reinforcements from the northern side of the map. For the first few turns let them come to you until more paths open up. They can't do much damage to you, just be careful of Nino. Move your units up the path.
Once the north-east is clear, which should be after a few turns, new paths will open more towards the centre of the map. At this point a few pirates will have finally reached your position, some of them carry Swordslayers so beware of being cocky with your sword users. One of them carries a Mine, steal it if you get the chance.
There are plenty of steal-able items on this map, a bishop has an Angelic Robe, a cavalier in the south carries a mine and a wyvern lord in the north east has a Blue Gem for you to steal. To top it off Sonia is carrying a Fell Contract, which allows you to promote one of your thieves. Lure these enemies in and steal it off them before you kill them.
The important ones are the Angelic Robe and the Blue Gem, the Fell Contract is dropped anyway and mines aren't the greatest thing in the world so don't worry if you miss out. A point to note is that Merlinus is not available on this map, so be wary of trying to steal items or open chests if you are carrying too much or you will have to drop something.
When you start to get more towards the center of the map we encounter a problem. There is both a Bishop with a Berserk staff on a platform towards the north east area. Make sure you have a restore staff to hand. The other problem is Sonia, she has a Bolting which can hit you from up to ten spaces away. If you can avoid it till the end when you go to fight her, it's best. This means that when you go to fight her, as you approach she will be using her Bolting and when you reach her it will be weighing her down and not let her counter-attack you.
The reinforcements on the southern side of the map aren't much trouble. Once the Bishop with the Berserk staff has been taken down and you've either depleted or dodged away from Sonia's Bolting. It's time to head towards the throne room. Head towards the south east and then north towards the room. There are two wyvern riders positioned by Sonia but they aren't much trouble.

She is extremely powerful and hits hard. The best way to take her downn is to use a well trained Falco Knight, they have the resistance to withstand her devastating Fimbulvetr. Otherwise, once the Bolting has been used up, use the rescue, drop and heal tactic and just attack with her melee attacks. One of my favourite things to do is to get Jaffar to kill her, just keep letting her attack until his silence ability goes off and he one shots her. If you're going for a ranked run waiting for this to go off might not be viable. |
