Chapter 19: Dragon's Gate
Walkthrough
After travelling through the dark forest we finally arrive at the Dragon's Gate. Quick as a flash as we arrive, Ninian gets kidnapped. It's up to us to save her and find out what evil plan is going on at the back of the Dragon's Gate, we also need to figure out where Eliwood's father is...
What we have facing us is a series of ruinous rooms littered around the place. All of them start off initially locked but that will soon change. We start off in the southern part of the map with a small narrow hallway leading north as our only direct access to the throne room. The room to our left contains a Sniper, room to the right contains nothing at the moment.
I'll deal with all the rooms separately, the room on the left is no trouble at all. The Sniper inside it is carrying a droppable Door Key, but if you leave him alone on the first turn, he will use it himself on the door in front of him and make the Silver Bow he is carrying droppable instead. Free Silver Bows for all.
The room to our right is also no trouble initially, on turns 4 and 5 an archer and fighter appear. They try and break through the wall in front of them if they are left unopposed. But if you leave a ranged unit such as Wil, Rebecca, Erk or whoever on the forest tile right next to the wall, the enemies will rush over and die to your amazing unit.
The room to the north also contains nothing, mercenaries and later on, shamans appear from the stairs in the middle of the room. These enemies spawn one at a time so they aren't much trouble.
The final two rooms are on the western side, a small room that is two tiles wide with a stairs inside spawns mages around turns 3 - 4. Their goal in life is to break the wall beside them, leave Canas beside the wall to destroy them.
The room on the north west can be left alone initially, the enemies don't move and the chests aren't going anywhere, so just leave it till the end.
On the first turn, Legault, a thief appears from the north west. He travels across the northern part of the map, past the throne, and then heads south towards the chests. He opens both of them and then tries to leave via the route he came in. If you talk to him with any of the lords he will join you. Another thief appears from the south east later on and he is carrying an item called the Member Card which allows you to visit Secret Shops.
It is imperative that you steal this off this thief as it's a really important item.
As a general strategy, head down the central pathway with most of your units. Leave one to deal with the sniper and another to deal with the enemies that will spawn from the room on the right. The rest head north.
Cameron, an enemy Paladin is situated in front of the door that leads to the boss, he isn't much trouble, gang up on him or use weapons effective against mounted units and he'll go down pretty quickly. open the door at your leisure, the rest of the turns are spent dealing with the enemies that spawn from the various rooms that I've already mentioned.
The best time to recruit Legault is early on. Legault will open the door leading to the throne room on turn 4, so if you have Eliwood or Lyn in range by that turn you can recruit him early on. If you can't the best is to wait till he is on the return journey back from the chests. He won't attack your units as he is trying to leave the map, so just run up to him with one of your lords.
Once the enemies have been dealt with, and the reinforcements have stopped trying to ruin your day, it's time to kill Darin, if you haven't already.
