Sealed Sword Chapter 8: The Reunion
Walkthrough
Having crushed the enemies outside, we charge into Castle Ostia we find it completely full with enemies, Lilina is in trouble and we need to save here!
We get two new units at the beginning of this chapter, Asthol, a thief joins us at our starting position in the south-east, he is similar to Chad and brings even more thief utility to the team.
We also recieve Lilina, a mage who is sadly trapped in a 'prison cell' in the centre of the map.
Before you do anything, make sure that you move Lilina one space to the left. This makes sure that the archer that is hanging outside her cell can't hit her on the enemy turn.
The first 5 turns are nothing special, move up th bloody corridor, there's really nothing else you can do. The enemies come at you in 3's, two soldiers and an archer or sometimes a knight thrown in there. Cavaliers and Javelins are the best for this. Heal if necessary.
On turn 8, Oujay, Wendy and Barth appear from the north west, their pathway is blocked by an easily breakable wall. Once you tear that down they can join up with the rest of your troupe which should be almost at that part of the map if not already there.
Oujay is a low levelled mercenary who, if given training can become as much of a powerhouse as Dieck. Train him a couple of levels and see how he turns out before you decide to bench him.
Wendy is a young knight of Ostia, as well as Bors' sister and boy does she start off weak, lv.1 is not a good level to be at in this chapter. She turns into a really strong unit and the best choice for a general later on, if you can survive the first 5 - 6 level ups with her.
Keep her towards the back and only let her get the final blow on enemies. She can get a lot of levels off the mercenary reinforcements that spawn from the south east staircase later on in the chapter.
The final unit we get is Barth, another knight of Ostia and boy is he ugly, my god. Barth is quite literally a wall, he has the highest (Not including Karel) defence growth in the game at 40%, he will block all manner of physical attacks with ease and pack a bit of a punch with his decent strength.
He has 0 resistance and barely any speed so you're going to be very frustrated if you do try and use him. He gets melted in seconds by magic attacks and double attacked by most enemies. He's great for using to block off a chokepoint but not much else. I suggest using Bors or Wendy instead.
The next section of the chapter is the staircase leading towards the southern area. This can be horribly frustrating, the enemies don't move until you get in range of them so try and lure them out one at a time. The enemies are quite strong so you by no means want to get attacked by more than one at a time. Do not charge straight down the stairs with your units. This is a sure-fire way to make sure somebody will die due to the wonky hit rates in this game.
Cath and another thief appear on turn 10 from the stairs in the south east. The will head north towards the room with chests that is beside the staircase. Along the way they will open up the room for Lilina, but they won't attack her. Reinforcements spawn from those same stairs on turn 11, and they will rush for the now defenceless Lilina. You want to be atleast inside the room with the chests by turn 10, Cath or the thief will open the far door for you. Steal both their lockpicks, kill the thief and talk to Cath with Roy. She will attempt to leave through the chest room and out of the map via the north west.
The final section is just before the passageway in the south east that leads towards the throne room. An Archer and mercenary will appear from the staircases that are there, and some soldiers and knights will appear from the western side of the map, by the boss. You can position a perfect chokepoint on the northern side of the passageway just below the room Lilina was kept in. Talk to her with Roy to give her a Lightning Tome.
Leave somebody in range of the left hand staircase, the archer will attack them and then on your turn you can move that unit and let somebody else get the killing blow. The mercenaries are easy fodder, draw them in and attack, let Wendy get the last hit on these if you are trying to train her. Once the reinforcements stop you can head off towards the boss.
There are a few knights and mages inside the throne room. Draw the mages out, the knight doesn't move so don't worry about him. Make sure you've gotten everyting in all the chests before you go for the boss, there are a lot of valuable items to be had from these including 3 different promotion items. Once that is done head for the boss.

Defeat |
He has conversations with everybody from Ostia but only the Lilina one is interesting so don't waste your time on putting people at risk. He's a General so essentially just a beefier knight. If Lugh is trained he can deal a truck load of damage, if not, it's time for Dieck and the armoslayer or for one of your axe users to do the business. |
