Sealed Sword Chapter 12x: The Axe of Thunder
Walkthrough
Having defeated the dragon from Bern, we move on to the sealed cave of the Western Isles. This cave houses the second great legendary weapon we will encounter on our journey, the axe of thunder, Armads.
The axe resides deep inside the cave, which means we are in for a fog of war chapter. Much like chapter 8x, this chapter contains traps. This time around they consist of poison traps in the wall that shoot out poison if you stop on a space in front of one. Your units, if hit, are then afflicted with poison for the next 5 turns, which deals 1 - 3 damage at the start of each turn while afflicted.
There are various enemies throughout the map, brigands, archers and myrmidons make up the core of the enemy team. There are three thieves scattered around the map that are trying to steal all the treasure from the chests. There is a druid in the north east with an Eclipse tome, it has an atrocious hit rate though so he's not much of an issue.
Much like the previous Gaiden chapter, the hardest part about this chapter is the boss. The enemies are lacklustre and don't take much to be beaten. Split your team into two, one section goes north, the other towards the east. Cavaliers are your friend, have them rush forwards, you want to gain ground on the thieves so that they don't steal anything important.
The most important chest being the one to the west of the throne, as it houses the White Gem.
Move your two groups, only stand in front of the poison walls if you absolutely have to, if not try and avoid them as best you can. They're more a nuisance than anything but can still be the difference between life and death. Anybody who has been lift with 3 hp with one tick of poison left will know what I mean.
Bring one or two thieves, one in each group to make the treasure troving easier. Move up the map, and have your groups converge on the throne room. Once you've defeated the few enemies around the throne room, it's time for the boss.

Hoo boy, another Berserker. I really hate these because of their insane crit rate. There are two options, attack him from range using the rescue and drop strategy, mages decimate his resistance stat of 3.
The other option is to attack him with all your sword users, if Fir, Dieck, Oujay or Rutger has been trained up, now is a time to bring them out. Make him attack from range so that he usus the Hand Axe, and then charge in on him on your turn.
Be wary of using characters with low luck, as they have a higher chance of getting critted. |
