Chapter 29: Sands Of Time

Walkthrough

While grieving for the death of Ninian, Eliwood and the group decide to rest at Castle Ositia before marching onwards to face Nergal. Amidst their relaxation however enemies begin to attack the castle...

The objective of this chapter is to defend the throne, if an enemy unit steps foot on the throne, we lose the battle. Our units are badly split up for this battle, our main group is around the throne in the north-west, but four select units are in a room to the south-east. Make sure you choose these units wisely as they will be on their own for the first few turns.

This map is chock a block full to the brim with archers and snipers. Ranged weapons are your best friend, or even better, your own snipers to take care of them. There are also a couple of NPC Ostian knights, the enemies try to kill off the NPC's before focusing on you so hope that the NPC's last a while.

The first two turns are spent dealing with the sea of enemies that are just outside the throne room. Once you have defeated those, it's time to move towards the boss. Unlike some other Defend chapters, this one does not end if you defeat the boss, we just want to kill him for that juicy experience.

Once the initial wave is down, and the four units situated in the other room have survived the onslaught that went their way, you should have control of everything until the room with the two chests. From this point, move southwards as a group, reinforcements spawn on almost every turn of this map from various locations, so if you can gain control of the boss area the chapter becomes sufficiently easier.

Reinforcements stop appearing once you defeat the boss, so once he's down, mop up the rest of the initial enemies and wait out the remainder of the chapter. A few thieves spawn early on from the southern stairs but you should be too quick for them to be able to make off with any of the treasure chests.

Once the enemies are done and you're taking care of the reinforcements, just wait out the eleven turns and be on your way.

Defeat He moves, so you can lure him out from his position in the south east, and then since he's a Sniper, gang up on him with melee attacks. Nothing too difficult.
