Chapter 23: Four-Fanged Offence A

Walkthrough

N.B You will access this version of the chapter if the total combined levels of the three Lords is less than 50. Otherwise you wiill go to Chapter 23 B.

Having conversed with Athos the Archsage about where to go next, he tells them that they need to amass weapons that will allow them to defeat Nergal. Heeding his knowledge they head to Bern disguised as simple travellers in the hopes of finding out more. They are approaching a large castle along the border when they are suddenly recognized.

A recruitable character appears on the eastern part of the map, one you might remember from Lyn's mode: Wallace. He can be recruited if you talk to him with anybody from Caelin.

We start off this chapter in the south west corner. The boss is situated in front of the castle in the north west. There are two villages to visit in this chapter, one across the mountain range to the east, and another in the far north-east corner. Getting to the top one can be tricky due to all the enemies around so tread with caution when heading up there.

There is a snag to the west of the starting position that you can break to cross over to the south east area of the map, be wary though, there is a strong Sniper lying in wait there carrying a droppable Orion's Bolt.

The initial enemies on the map consist of archers, knights, mercenaries, monks, myrmidons and wyvern knights in the mountains on the western side. Reinforcements appear from both the forts directly north of us and from the castle itself.

Make the forts due north of our position your base of operations. Put two units there, preferably lance users and let them have a field day, gorging on the mercenaries and myrmidons that rush to their doom. Don't push you weaker units up too much until the wyvern knights from the mountains are visible. Pick 2 - 3 of your units to head east over the snag, include somebody from Caelin in that group, it's easy if you've trained either Sain or Kent. Wallace has the awkward tendency to head due north and walk right into a lrage group of myrmidons carrying lancereavers so it's important you go and rescue him quickly.

Once the wyverns are down and the south east is clear, move your units north towards the castle. Leave somebody behind to deal with the monk reinforcements that appear from near the starting position and the forts to the south and position the rest of your group around the castle. Take down any myrmidons that spawn from the castle.

Once you've visited the north eastern village, used the arena and visited the vast shops that lie in the south-east, it's time to focus on Lloyd.

Defeat Unlike Hector mode, Lloyd doesn't move so you can defeat him at your leisure. I would avoid attacking him directly head on, he has a really cruel chance to crit you. Javelins and magic users are your best bet for taking him down. If you're ballsy enough, try and take him on directly, don't blame me if your unit dies horribly though.
