Chapter 16: Whereabouts Unknown
Walkthrough
Having crushed the forces outside the castle, we march onwards into Castle Caelin, hoping to oust the evil Lahus tyrants that have run rampant. The fate of Lyn's grandfather hangs in the balance!
This map is annoyingly long and strangely shaped, it winds around annoyingly meaning it takes a long time to get to the top of the map. It will take a few turns to traverse across the full thing. Sadly we need to beat the chapter in 15 turns or less to be able to reach the Gaiden chapter that appears afterwards, so get moving.
The key to this chapter is movement, sometimes bringing all three cavaliers can be extremely beneficial to get you up the map as quickly as possible. The amount of archers lurking around the map mean that Florina is pretty useless for this one, so let her sit this one out.
The reason you want to rush in this chapter is that the soldiers who are locked away in the prison cell on the eastern side, will open up their cell and try to head towards the boss. The problem with this is that to get to the boss they have to pass by Raven who is positioned in the center of the map.
The Soldiers could potentially kill him, and we need to recruit him so we can't have that. They exit their cell around turn six.
Before you march off into the sunset, you need to choose a unit to leave behind at the starting position. On turn nine cavalier reinforcements appear from the south-west, and if you have sent your entire team towards the boss, Merlinus will be completely unprotected.
I usually leave Oswin down there, his movement makes him too slow to bring up the map with the rest of your team, the map will be over by the time he reaches the throne room. He is strong enough however to destroy the cavaliers that show up, especially if you give him the Horseslayer from the previous chapter.
Move up the map with your cavaliers leading the charge, send Matthew to the room with the chests on the west side, you get a Hero Crest and an Unlock for your troubles. Enemies will be heading towards you at the staircase on the western side, just before the passageway that leads to Raven and the prison cell.
Lure them out and gang up on these enemies, one of the enemies drops a Hammer which will come in very useful for the boss.
Send Priscilla down the passage way towards Raven, keep her out of range and then rush in and recruit him on your next turn, then send him to go talk to Lucius in the prison cell.
Keep moving up the map, shamans will appear from the central room around turn 8. but they aren't much trouble for your units, the shamans will kill the soldiers however. So depending on how many Soldiers you want to save, you should rescue them so they can't charge to their dooms on the enemy lances, or dark magic tomes as it were.
Visit the other room with the chests to recieve a Silver Sword and a Knight Crest and then head for the boss.

Wolf Beil, Rapier, the Heavy Spear from the last chapter, the Hammer picked up in this chapter, there are plenty of options for this boss, so take your pick. If none of those are options, just use magic. |
