The stylus is an extension of the gameplay in the previous Fire Emblem games.

The stylus can be used to tap the screen as the "A" button to advance text and the such. During gameplay, you can use the stylus to press text on menu's as well as buttons such as 'cancel' and 'danger'. It is mainly a substitute for the buttons.

You can use the stylus to select a character and then drag them across the bottom screen to move them to places, as well as click on enemy units and attack them. It makes the game feel somewhat more alive, however it does not significantly make the game go faster or slower, or do anything special that normal buttons can't do. Despite this, its functionality can be considered amusing and it adds more depth to the style of gameplay.
