^ That begs the question: What is a man? Sorry, discussing the topic in school right now, I had to bring it up. Lol.
And I doubt it could be a mass conspiracy, would one politician's (lame) discovery like that really cause world leaders to prepare for a global pandemic? They have thermal imaging on airline passengers to check for signs of fever, for crying out loud. Kensai, you need to stop being paranoid. For srs.
Anyway, people should be washing their hands regularly regardless of whether there is an impending pandemic approaching. It's common sense, as well as caring for personal hygiene.
I also dislike the criticism that doctors around the world are receiving. Like how doctors in Mexico were turning patients away. You know what I think? They turned them away because it was probably pretty damned obvious that the patient was paranoid. Swine Flu has common symptoms, yes. Some of these (like diarrhea, for example) are red flags, and that is when one should go see a doctor. Some people are way to paranoid about their own survival that they forget their own common sense...
Also, it's rather irritating that scientists are being criticized for two reasons: 1. Not having a vaccine for mass distribution, and 2. Not preparing the H1N1 swine flu virus strain vaccine prior to this outbreak.
1. Many people find it hard to realize just how difficult the making of a vaccine is in reality. Scientists don't just look at a disease and say, "Oh, this is how to prevent this." What they have to do is study a microorganism, among other things, and even use small quantities in it for a vaccine. (Natural immunity) The truth is, in the U.S., we've only got about 55 vaccines against something like 23 diseases. Scary, isn't it. Yet our population seems to be doing fine.
2. HOW can people possibly have the nerve to blame scientists for not predicting an outbreak of the H1N1 strain? I don't see any of these critics coming forth and displaying proof that they had accurately predicted this outbreak. They are all baseless criticisms sprouting from fear.
Scientists have been preparing for an outbreak of a different variety. To be precise, H5N1 bird flu virus. There was several cases in Asia, enough to spark concern of a global spread. A vaccine was created, and created millions of times in preparation. As much a people might complain and say, 'Why did we spend all these resources on making an H5N1 vaccine, thinking that was the pandemic, and it's useless for this situation?' we have to bear in mind you can't really make a pandemic vaccine until you know the strain that causes the pandemic, rather than think this is wasted money.
To sum up this giant wall of text, I say that no one is really to blame for this outbreak of swine flu, and the seeming inability of the medical community to fight back. It will come, with time. It always does. There's a reason humanity still exists today.
