It's been a while, but I've been working on-and-off with my board game. I haven't come near to completing any maps yet, but I've been working on rules and scenarios, and I (potentially) finalized the character pieces. I haven't quite gotten all of them finished as I'm still trying to replace a lot of the old artwork, but here's a couple of them that are:
Well, after making a few things using cardboard frames, it looks like I've wasted my time with that. Allow me to explain: I made a few islands by layering cardboard and molding clay around it, however, as the clay sits to dry, the cardboard absorbs the moisture and curls up. This curling causes the clay to crack. So, to make maps in the future I will be making the switch to Styrofoam, which I can layer pieces of and carve using a handy tool called a hotwire. The issue with this however is that clay does not stick to Styrofoam very well, therefore I can't paint the maps without it looking strange, so most likely, I'll have to spend a lot of money on diorama terrains to glue onto the Styrofoam. It will look higher-quality, but I'm not sure if I can fit this within my budget >.> so we'll all have to wait and see how things work out.
