I mean, how do hackers do their custom sprites and their animations?

I'm kinda jealous and I wanna know how to do it.

Specially if its a sprite that came from another game or a original sprite.

Also what if I only want to recolor a existing sprite?

Any tutorials/tips are greatly accepted.

even Blazer's ultimate tutorial doesn't explain in making one XD

Im a 15 year old boy who's so much interested in hacking Fire Emblem GBA games.

Somehow Im still working at it. And, i found out i suck at these things:

MAP MAKING:

I skimmed PrimeFusion's tutorial about making a cool map with less spamming.

but seems i really suck at it. Even I skimmed the tutorial like for three hours.

And still suck at making maps.(I use Tiled by the way.)

CHARACTER STATS:

I really , really ,really suck at balancing the stats.

I  want the game to be not so hard, but i want some challenge as well.

So im always confused if I set my main character's speed to 9 or stay in 6.

EVENTS:

Especially when it comes to map tile changes. This one took me around 5 hours just to

figure out that the code for the tile change is 

EventPointerTable(0x0E,TileChanges)
