Cloud's dodge is kinda weak, although I did the same fade-out type thing with Reon in Prince of Durand a long time ago...

Since reading up on BwdYeti's tutorials... I noticed that my first attempt at a custom sucked... as I didn't even have a pallete to start out with...

So now, I just went with a recolor of Joshua's Swordmaster sheet and I'll base the "Trueblade" sprite off this:

Simple, but it's a start, right?

Btw, it was mentioned that FE uses 40, 40, 40 for the shadows and "black" outlines right? Does it support anything "darker" than that as a shade of black?

Oh crap... sorry, I forgot that the 16 color palette INCLUDES the background to be transparent... I'll fix it ._.

^It does support stuff darker, but it just looks plain ugly. The outline should always be the darkest color on your sprite. The black you're using sticks out a lot.
The frames look alright to me. I can't really tell what it's doing. It looks kinda like you just rearranged the swordmaster frames to make something else.

Anyway...


First draft of Mist. Obviously there are differences. Color limits suck. Which one looks better? Also, various tips on improving?
I don't really like the shading around the eyes. Another thing about the eyes is that I think I made her look younger than I intended. Any tips on making her look just a smidge older? Also, cape seems a little pillowed to me, I'll try to fix that.

Other than that, comments?

On the left side of Mist from our point of view is her hair which for some of the way is a straight diagonal line and it looks bad it doesn't look smooth or natural.

It's just a Swordmaster Sheet of Joshua recolored... I took "advice" from BwdYeti's tutorials that I should take baby steps of recoloring before I tackle customs like your Cloud Sprite sheet... which I'm doing a custom "Trueblade" by a fusion of movements from Lyn, Swordmaster classes, and a few movements from the Swordmaster class in FE9...

Here's the sheet with the "non-inside out" flipped shading... I used the "0, 0, 0" for the shadow instead... just like how Xeld used it (I think) for his custom sprite...

I wanted to use 0, 0, 0 for pure black for my hair... that's why it looked so ugly on my first attempt... I really appreciate the input...


I really can't help with criticism on the Mist mug, as I just see "awesomeness", and since I'm just starting out...

But from what I see as a first impression... your work is awesome...

(Btw, I just looked at some of the videos of your "Devourer of Worlds" hack and found out you're starting over... You got yourself a new fan!!! yay!!! looking forward to it!!!)

I don't like the colors, I don't think the light blue hair goes with the blue headband. the eye and the eyebrow look weird and the head looks a little too small for the body.
