Fates has come and gone and now everyone has more or less solidified their opinions on it. So... Regardless of which path you bought, I'm interested to know the different reasons people bought Fates. I was going to post this on r/FireEmblem to see what they thought, but I realized it's hard to post it in a place that large without a ton of people seeing the question as condescending. As for me, I just bought it because 1. I wanted another Fire Emblem game to play (that wouldn't cost me over 100 dollars like Radiant Dawn) and 2. The story idea intrigued me, even if I would be forced into one path at purchase.
So why did you buy Fates? Was it only for the sake of having the next Fire Emblem game? Or were there more reasons?

This, pretty much. That, and I was hoping that everyone was overreacting when they said the game sucked. They were not. lol
I bought all three paths and now I feel like I must convince somebody else to never touch Revelation to make up for the fact that I bought that piece of crap.

Yep just because it was the next FE game. I got Conquest though because I liked the look of the Nohrian siblings way better than the Hoshido siblings.
I will not remove this until I complete the Ritual of the Mahjarrat quest in Runescape - started 4/18/15 - completed 12/20/15

yeah i basically only bought it because it was fire emblem. after blazer's rant about how he felt about the Japanese release i figured it probably wasn't going to be worth it to expect anything out of it, but "w/e it's fire emblem so i'll enjoy it" was my basic mindset. i kinda wish i hadn't, but every part of me knows that it wasn't avoidable.

As the others said - it was the next one. Got Conquest, was rewarded with disappointment. I traded it in, but I kinda feel like I should pick it up again when it's cheaper and give it another shot - or Birthright. Eh.
