This surprised me lol, just wasn't thinking about it for a bit. I guess because of midterms. I suppose this will be a good "reward" of sorts for struggling through these brutal few weeks, lol.

 

Spring/Summer releases, eh? Well, I honestly don't have a lot of predictions this time, but I'll comment a bit more later in this post...

This is just a rumor, I wouldn't consider it a "leak" (which would mean it's 100% true) just because the part about "Niji" (which ended up being Sun/Moon) ended up being true. A lot of them aren't exactly crazy reveals and a lot don't actually tell us much of anything about the game (namely the "code name" ones), not to mention it's only listing 3DS stuff.

See what I just said above, not necessarily true. Personally I'm not believing it because if it's wrong I'd look like an idiot and there's no real reason to believe in it but I won't say it's impossible either, considering how vague this info was (it's been up on the internet for a while).

Yeah I'm curious about this too. Glad someone else is looking forward to this game besides me lol though I already have it on my Japanese Wii U and need to beat it soon

Personal List of Possibilities (basically predictions but without confidence that they'll actually happen because lolNintendo):

 

- Pokken Tournament game explanation (e.g. explaining the features/game modes or something)

- Star Fox Zero trailer or segment, possible release date delay

- Small chance of Genei Ibun Roku #FE first English trailer, probably no release date because it'll probably take a while longer to localize the game (it has quite a bit of text along with voices and well... all those Japanese songs that I don't know what they're going to do with...)

- New Wii U game, probably not a significant one

- New 3DS game, probably not a significant one (maybe this "Caviar F" mentioned above)

- The usual showing of trailers/release dates and the like for any upcoming games that don't have them, published by Nintendo and not-published by Nintendo alike

- More on Monster Hunter Stories from the Japanese one

- Rhythm Heaven The Best+ localization pleeeease? T_T <- more like a personal request rather than a prediction lol though after waiting for a few months I already gave in and imported the game

- New Sonic Boom game trailer

 

yeah idk I don't really expect too much in general, the activity for Nintendo's consoles feels like it's dwindling all over so I don't think there will be a lot to show that we don't already know and isn't some minor thing like "hey, we're bringing this thing to the eShop!"

 

I mean, I won't count out the very small chance we'll hear about an English Mother 3 release on the Wii U eShop or something like that but I just don't have much expectations-wise for this. It'd be awesome if it surprised me but assuming they are working on NX games and also looking at all the games already being built, like, there's only so much they can reasonably do. Might we hear about those mystery projects being worked on Miyamoto again after hearing practically nothing about them for 1.5 years (despite them being on financial reports and stuff)? Maybe but as a whole there's just not a whole lot to anticipate, I think. Fates just came out, 3rd parties probably won't have much to give the low-install-base/dying Wii U and the 3DS only gets support from Japan's 3rd-parties really and I don't expect much if any of those games to show up here... so eh, yeah. I just don't see much great happening, which I'm ok with, Directs are still fun for me regardless.

 

(Also, I'd be shocked if Europe didn't get a release dates for Fates tomorrow, so...)

@blazer i take everything called a "leak" with a grain of salt just on principle. i really hope that some of this stuff is announced in the direct, but i wouldn't think all of it will be. 

 

on a side note i'm really just waiting for DQ7/8 info tbh. everything else is sort of a backdrop to those two games XD

ahh ok. my definition is that a leak is true or it's not a leak... unless it's well, a "rumored leak", XD. then it's rumored to be true, but... yeah, you get my point, I think. XD

 

haha, fair. I'm not into DQ because I hear it's grind-heavy (and I hate grinding) but I know in general, people tend to only have a thing or two they are interested in with these Directs, which is why people can be so easily disappointed. On the flip side though, Nintendo only has so many developers under their wing/can only make so many games/can only please so many people at once, so it's kinda unreasonable to expect what you want to be a thing more than "once in a while", but meh. whatcha gonna do.

 

also, no interest in MHX localization? even if you've played the Japanese version I figured you'd be a bit more into it

I'm just as excited for that, but I'd already gotten that out of my system in a Skype chat earlier today. I think it's gonna be a good direct in general though. There's a lot expectation for Nintendo this year, and they know it. If they can start out strong it'll set a good tone for them all year I think.

This, pretty much. I don't believe in leaks until I have an appropriate, TRUE source confirming them. Because as you said, blazer, the line between "leaks" and "rumors" is very thin and sometimes nonexistent. I didn't even believe in the Pokemon Sun/Moon stuff, despite the leaked title image, until it was confirmed by Nintendo. (Anyone can make a Pokemon title image, especially one that bland. Those pictures were proof of nothing by themselves.)

 

Not sure if I'll watch the direct or not. So far as I know, there's nothing which will even remotely excite me coming out anytime soon. FE is already here, and Pokemon Sun/Moon isn't coming out for quite a while. And I really doubt they'll reveal anything about the latter because they JUST confirmed them not-too-long ago.

 

Unless by some stroke of luck, they confirm Fates getting an update to make it compatible with the Roy amiibo. Then I will be very excited.

 

Doubt that though.

yeah I think the expectations are really a fan thing where fans and youtubers and rumors and all that are setting the bar so high Nintendo won't be able to meet their expectations, but lol, we'll see how it goes. The first Direct was, IMO, pretty standard/not too surprising or impressive. We got some cool stuff, release dates, etc., but obviously no NX or mobile news or other potentially huge-hitters, so... XP

 

In retrospect, kinda weird not having anything Smash-related, I guess. Haha.

For those, IIRC the logos themselves were trademarked or something, which is why they were a leak, not just a random old rumor. But I get what you're saying, and I think it's best to stay skeptical and be proven wrong rather than be gullible and then be proven wrong, haha.

 

haha, I also doubted the Roy thing, but funny enough, more Fates DLC WAS announced in the Japanese Direct... lol
