For those who don't know, Koji Igarashi, the mastermind behind Castlevania: Symphonia of the Night, and many other "Metroidvania" games split away from Konami in 2014 to work on his own, and we have finally heard from him and what he is working on. Yesterday, Igarashi launched a kickstarter for his new game, Bloodstained. Note: This kickstarter has only been up for a day, and it already has broken one and a half million dollars.

Info about the game can be found at the kickstarter here: https://www.kickstar...al-of-the-night

I love these styles of games, and while it might not seem like it, I am super excited for this game. Based on the composers, the music looks like it is going to be amazing since it features Michiru Yamane, who did the music for Castlevania games like Aria of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night, and is responsible for the arrangement of Fight 1 from Fire Emblem Gaiden in Super Smash Bros for Wii U.

These kickstarters are absolutely crazy lol, those amounts. The things I'd do for 1% of that money. $15,000 would be enough for me to fund my own action-platformer RPG of sorts for the Wii U. If only, if only. A person can dream. XD

In all seriousness, this seems pretty good. I'm not a fan of the Castlevania series mostly due to the story and motifs, but I might like this (at the very least the gameplay sounds like something I'd really like).

Here's some concept art just to make this topic a little less wordy (lol):

fb97fe9cc95e395c6334ac211f3c202c_origina

Hopefully the final product is innovative and quality. Tbh I kinda want to back this at least at the $60 level (I'd really like a physical version!) but it's hard to commit because A) I don't have much money to spend right now and B) I don't actually know what the final product is going to be like and it's hard to back something just based on some concept art and the people working on it. Oh and C) Kickstarter is dumb and because it uses Amazon Payments I can't actually get it to work properly (they just close my account and stuff before I can really do anything and ugh it's so dumb).

I'm looking forward to this game. Sadly if it's digital only I might not get it due to having to pay extra on PSN.

Backing it can get you a physical copy if you pay a certain amount.

I am really looking forward to this game though. I backed it for $125 so I can get a physical copy for myself and give a digital copy to my best friend~ <: I miss IGA Castlevanias, so I'm super super hyped for this game to come out.

I've actually got into the mood to do my annual Super Metroid speed run too, in celebration! And I might do speed runs of other Metroid and "modern" Castlevania games. Haha. I really can't wait for this game to come out. I'm already hella gay for the main character.

well the game itself won't be out for a while if you can't back it for a copy right now

ooh that's awesome! I was thinking $100 max for myself if I had the money but that's just hypothetical haha, even if I could afford it I just don't value much of the rewards beyond that and don't have any best friend to give a digital copy to XD and it seems to be doing TOTALLY FINE on the funding. "fine" is putting it lightly. it's like what, tripled its funding goal in the short period it's been up. O_o

you must really be a fan though, I'm impressed by your apparent love for the "Metroidvania" genre of games, if I may say so XD and the main character design is pretty awesome, I was a bit impressed. can't say she turned me on though lolol

Yeah, I would have done just 60, but I like some of the other backer rewards so I wanted to splurge a little bit. <: If it's really set up like that where I'll get a Physical AND Digital copy, then it's money well spent.

I really hope the game comes out well and the style and even the main character gives me Order of Ecclesia vibes with the main character being just like Shanoa and all. Haha. It's probably why I'm not the only one gay for her because several of my friends are too. But then there's also the villain voiced by David Hayter too who has a pretty good design too.

:o why's that?

I can't charge PSN normally cause we don't have an international credit card, and buying PSN dollars at my game store is an exchange of basically 20 PSN bucks for 30 normal bucks (at the current exchange rate). So I try to buy physical copies most of the time.

See, I was hyped for Yooka-Laylee, a nice-looking game from a studio that I'm constantly assured is good by people who've played their games, but IGA working on a Castlevania spiritual successor? That's my home turf, and my hype is the hype that pierces the vault of my bank account! When I get paid, I'm planning on putting at least 60 in, then more depending on my next check.

I feel ya, if I had any spare money (or any money at all really), I would put money into this for sure. Hell, I'll be honest, if I had an extra ten grand, and enough to get to Japan, I'd go that far.

Right? Anyone who ordered the ring has my eternal envy, haha. I'm able to tell myself that it's just a ring for a game that hasn't even come out yet, and that I don't even wear rings, but still...

I wonder how much of that extra money they would actually use on the game...(or paying their employees or whatever)

uhh, wow

welp, I better get to backing it if I'm going to... gotta get amazon payment to work first, and that thing is stupid, soooo >_>

ever the pessimist/skeptic/whatever, I can't even properly describe you :P

probably most of it will go to it, in game dev there are almost always ways to spend a bit of extra money money without actually expanding the general scope of the project, lol. costs can easily go overboard too, so yeah, that's a thing

Metal Gear Solid.

Haha, but honestly, I would like to see a spiritual successor to Bomberman. I really really loved those games and I'm sad to see Hudson Soft just... Dead, thanks to Konami. >:

something to make up for Silent Hills, maybe

Lucia's idea of bomberman ain't terrible but I'm not sure how the chances are

what do you want explained? XP

on a personal note, I'm trying to donate to this but again, Amazon Payments isn't working, so I can't. I faxed over documentation to prove who I am or whatever so maybe it'll go through after if I'm lucky, in which case I could finally do something with Kickstarters, but it's probably not a great idea to hold my breath, given my previous experiences with them. and I think the KS is ending soon so in general I suppose you could say things are looking a tiny bit grim.
