Blazer always tells me to do this when I'm having a site related problem, so

It seems to be more of a problem on the other site's end than ours (because of whatever they add after the image extension in the URL) since the .PNG didn't work either but then it should say something like "Invalid image" or something.

EDIT: works fine for me if I take off the ending after the .gif (though the GIF itself looks kinda messed up). So yes, if possible, try getting rid of that. Otherwise, download the image and then upload it to your dropbox or some image host and then link to it via a direct link and use that. As you said though it doesn't seem like FES is the problem (for once).
EDIT2: and yes, this is the best thing you can do. helps others if they have the same problem, and others can weigh in as well. also makes it easier to discuss the problem XP sorry if it's annoying to have to make a post
