Yooka-Laylee is the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie made by Playtonic Games. Their goal is to revive the 3D platformer genre. The game is being funded through kickstarter and raised over a million dollars in a day: https://www.kickstar...rmer-rare-vival

Other information can be found here: http://nintendoevery...screenshotsart/

The game features music composed by Grant Kirkhope, known for his work in the Nintendo 64 games Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Golden Eye 007. It also features composer David Wise known for his work in the Donkey Kong Country games, and Diddy Kong Racing, along with Steve Burke known for his work in Kameo: Elements of Power. The game is shaping up to be fantastic, and along with A Hat in Time, hopefully we'll see a revival of the 3D platformer genre.

There you go Blazer, here is your Yooka-Laylee thread. Stop complaining that you are making most of the threads. *shot*

I was actually never a big fan of Banjo Kazooie way back when. I never had the games when I was a kid and even though I now own all 3 games on my 360 I've never beaten any of them. Maybe I'm just not that into collectathons or I just have to sit my lazy ass down and actually play them for once. I'm definitely interested since I do enjoy 3D platformers though I'm not hyped at all. Also holy shit, look at how fast they got their goals.

I'm mega super hyped, even though I admittedly didn't play much of BK. What I did play was pretty fun, though. With all the money being poured into it, I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

lololol

so yeah I actually am not a fan of Banjo-Kazooie and whatnot but I'm interested in this as 3D platformers are cool and I'd be interested in a new one if it were quality (and well, given the people working on this and the budget, I think it's fair to expect something pretty good XP).

I wouldn't say I'm *hyped* like others but I'll keep an eye on it and probably pick it up sometime after it comes out, depending on how busy the release timing is. Not a high-priority, but it's in the back of my mind, or something.

I'm pretty excited for the game myself. I never played the Banjo Kazooie games on the N64 (Eventually I did when they came to the 360), however I've always loved 3D platformers. The music is promising as well, especially with the line up it has. David Wise and Grant Kirkhope have made some fantastic themes, and continue to do so.

yup I can't really get too excited about a game's music until I hear it (even for Falcom games, I know the music is going to be awesome but it doesn't really hit me until I hear it lol) but those are some good composers. I really liked Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze's soundtrack.  And I'm excited for a 3D platformer better than this Pac-Man game I've been playing, especially since Nintendo seems to refuse to make another 3D Mario game like Super Mario 3D World or Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii U. Unless they announce one this year but that seems a bit unlikely right now, especially given some of their earlier comments.

Understandable, music is one of the hardest thing to show about a game before the actual release because while you can see screenshots, and gameplay video, the music isn't shown off. (Yes, I'm aware the gameplay videos have the game's music, but they normally exist for focus on gameplay, and not the music.)

yeah unless the trailer is designed to show off the music well I tend to not notice it much

the P5 trailer though, the music is pretty awesome and it's like, just the music that you hear, so that's great

but otherwise there tends to be other stuff overshadowing it, so even if the music is good... :\

I'd like to casually bump this topic by pointing out that the Kickstarter has raised more than 1,000 10x its original goal. Hype? Hype.

wait, what? more than 1000x? was the original goal $2,700? it says it raised 2.7m and the goal was .27m... isnt' that 10x or am I missing something XD

regardless the amount raised is impressive and says a lot about demand for quality 3D platformers, I think

Welp. I can count, I swear. Still, 10x that much money is pretty crazy.

lolol, just a mistake then huh? np not judging, it happens haha, but yeah 10x is still amazing, I'd be lucky to get 1/10th of their initial goal, forget 10x...

I don't like it but I don't like glacier levels in general, usually, unless they're like, pure piano melodies, or something
