It's not even subbed though I understood like 90% of it anyway... which is kinda awesome but kinda sad at the same time

My main complaint isn't that it's not subbed, it's that it's not like, 10 hours long so it could cover all the good parts of that entire part of the adventure, since well, if you've watched the actual anime or read the actual mange you'd know just how much it's skipping.

Can't get it all though, at least it's high quality. They threw in too many "WHIIIIP"s in there too and the voice acting for Luffy isn't as good as it used to be. #NitPicky

Is this like a scene compilation/compression or is it completely new scenes? If it is new scenes then I might consider watching this. Never really liked Merry though.

It's kind of a combination. There's definitely a good amount of new scenes but it's relatively true to the original animation as well. However it's higher quality in general as opposed to the normal anime episodes which like to constantly cut corners. That being said sometimes they really uh... skew the faces of characters >_>; but don't mind it too much, it's definitely not just a recompilation that any old fan could make.
