What do you think the next FE game will be released on? The two options are WiiU and 3DS, if you didn't know. GO!

I'm more likely to come to be in possession of a 3DS than a WiiU (and also FE has not done well on home consoles since, like, FE3) so that one. Although I wouldn't object to a change in art style, which, based on the DS games, we won't get...

I'd prefer Wii U, but I have a feeling it will be 3DS.

1. Wii U isn't a big seller right now, and if a new FE were to come out on it relatively soon, it could fall victim to the Tellius games' console fate. (Niche franchise at a time when a console wasn't popular.)

2. The 3DS (and Fire Emblem) is more popular than ever. All the newcomers who boarded the Awakening train will likely be expecting the next one to be on the 3DS as well.

But, who knows. Maybe Fe14 will come out on the Wii U and be a system seller/really successful like Awakening?

However unlikely the WiiU would be preferable. It would be interesting to see what they would do with the gamepad.

Having been playing 9 and 10 recently, it's reminded me just how much stuff was actually in those games. So many hours of gameplay and interesting stories (10 is debateable at times)

I would like to see some on both, if the amount of work that was put into PoR as is put into one for the WiiU it would be fantastic. I'd be fascinated to see if they'd bother with the controller portion of the WiiU though. I mean, coult it revert to 3DS style visuals when you're just playing on the controller or would that be too much effort.

Judging by the popularity of FEA on the 3DS, the next one will most definitely be on the 3DS, Intelligent Systems would be a fool to not be working on a sequel as fast as possible for next summer/christmas release.

Although the 3DS is more likely, the Wii U also is an option since console games in FE were pretty well received among the fan-base, but right now, it seems impossible to guess.

Got Pokemon X/Y or OR/AS? Battle me! Or trade with me... Trading is cool too.

I'd prefer a Wii U one in terms of nothing but quality/delivery, but the 3DS would probably be more suitable given that Wii U games require a much higher investment than 3DS games and FE tends to do better on portable systems + a lot of FE fans already have the 3DS... and hey, there IS SMT x FE coming for Wii U, part of which is because supposedly developing a game for the Wii U is a bit too much of an investment for just one team/it would take too long etc. which is why Atlus and IS are cooperating.

In short, while Wii U would probably be a more epic experience and I'd love/prefer to see one there, I think it'd make more sense to make more 3DS FE's... sad.gif

A WiiU game would be epic as long as they put the effort in.

Where do we stand on GBA remakes? Would they even consider those? I know Fe:11 didn't get that good a rep in the West but to be fair it was a game for the pretty niche community that already existed and not for the gaming community as a whole.

Wouldn't bet on a remake of any of the GBA games. If they did though, I'd prefer FE6 through and through. Could use some fleshing out.

But seriously. If you're gonna remake an FE game Nintendo, hit up my boys on Jugdral. Don't remake FE1 for the 3rd time rofl

I think Awakening was pretty good in terms of effort, they really added and brought back a lot and kinda fleshed out the game, it was great, if they put that much effort into their next FE I think it's bound to be a success, maybe not on the Awakening level but darn near close, and potentially better if they put a little more into the story and make the graphics a little more impressive (no offense but the animations could definitely be flashier like the GBA ones or even the FE10 occult-level/3rd-tier skills' or w/e animations).

also I heard FE11 sold and got rated decently enough but yeah it wasn't received well by the fans... that being said I think a reimagination of a game--not just a bland remake--and one that hasn't seen a Western release before--would be great. No offense but even if they remade FE6 it wouldn't be that great since the original game was missing a lot of things. But flesh out some of the characters more in dialog, add some more interesting cutscenes, add a world map, and do some other things, and it has potential.

I hope that, since Awakening did so well, IS will have more cash to make the next Fire Emblem. Let's face it-- the series was done if Awakening didn't sell well, there was tons of content, more voice acting than we've ever seen (and some high-end actors), plus a bunch of other stuff, so the budget was probably tight. I imagine that, with all the features they wanted to include, they had to cut some corners on things.

I think if they were to remake another game, Jugdral should be the next in line. I mean chronologically it makes sense (Gaiden only beats it in this regard), and it's arguably the universe that most don't know a whole lot about. IMO the GBA games are a bit too new for remakes, in the sense that FE isn't as mainstream as, say, Final Fantasy, which can afford to do remakes all the time.

I mean I'd totally be down for a new game in an all-new universe. I kinda hope that happens with FE14.

Also @Kensai I never even thought of the gamepad. The map/conditions screen comes to mind, but maybe something more creative would be better XD

While i would love to see a remake of genealogy, i don't think it's going to happen. With that one losing someone is so unforgiving(unless it's arden then it doesn't really matter) that you may need to start the whole chapter over which could be an hour or two down the drain if you were at the end of a map. It seems IS is actually toning back the difficulties(barring lunatic mode) for the US because most people over here are "casual gamers" whereas Japan has a huge population of people who put a lot into video games. I could be wrong about this, but i really don't see them remaking 4 or 5 for international release. hell, they didn't even give us the second part of Marth's story(which is the better half imo). All that said, they should definitely do a remake of at least 4, it was great in every way

Edit: WiiU would be a great platform for any FE game, but i think multiplatform releases would be the best way to go. bigger audience and while they would have to change some between the WiiU and the 3ds it can be done obviously(MH3U for example)

I think it'll be 3DS. Looking at how it sold (as well as the popularity of the 3DS), they'd be silly not to.

He spoke for us all I believe. But it's too true, why would they make for anything else if they've got SMT x FE coming for Wii U
