I've watched the show and read the manga.

Pretty gripping I have to say. pretty good.

I read the first chapters of the manga and I didn't like it. Then a friend made me watch the anime and I got hooked. I then just skipped to where the anime was so I could know what happens next. So much betrayal!

Started watching it a bit ago since people wouldn't let me not join the bandwagon. Starts off very strong if you haven't been spoiled, IMO. The anime pace is a little inconsistent but the animation is amazing and I like that part. The manga is a little... eh in terms of drawing quality and being able to distinguish characters and what's happening, but it's not awful. I can accept it. I stopped reading it though as well pretty much my motivation for reading it was "I'm so bored and I'm too sick to do anything else besides something super lazy like reading manga or watching an anime" (I couldn't even play video games sadly lol).

The anime opening is by far the best part. The only good part *shot*

The music is the part that interests me the most, I have a feeling that says the full ver. of the opening won't be as striking as the tv ver. though.

yeah usually full versions of opening songs are eh

and a lot of it for me has to do with the imagery as well it's just really like... dramatic and obviously intended to convey an epic hundred year war between humans and these huge monstrous creatures known as Titans

and for any nubs we call it "Attack on Titan" not that the title makes a toooon of sense grammatically or else I just don't understand it but w/e

I'm posting because I felt like I needed to post something or else I would become a lurker.

So alot of people I know irl and some here on the forum have said that the new opening isn't really as good as the old one, and I felt the same until I heard it with subtitles, both in japanese and the translation. My main problem with it was that I couldn't hear the lyrics so it just seemed like background music, but after I saw the lyrics and heard them at the same time they're stuck in my head, I also like the fact that alot of the song is in German, making even more parallels between the new human society structure and the Germans (I don't actually know if there is one since I haven't really looked into it but I get this German feel from the series).

Another thing that made me like the new song was the meaning of the words, which I thought go with the new episodes better than the old opening. It might just be me but I felt it was better that way.

On a completely different note I thought I'd share a theory that I came up with, before I read the manga, but that I didn't post last time because it involved some of the newer episodes.

So the theory mostly has to do with the titans and where they come from. Now when Eren changes from a Titan into a human again he comes out of the nape of the neck, the only known titan weak spot. In a later episode Arwin (Armin? I can't remember his name) stabs the nape of Titan!Eren's neck and his sword pieces the real Eren. This got me thinking that maybe the Titan are actually all humans and that they are contained in the nape of their Titan Form's necks (sorry if that didn't make sense).

Ok so later in the manga it is confirmed that *some* Titans have humans in their necks, specifically the Titans that have human form. Now in the very last Manga chapter (I think it was the last one anyway) they mention that these Human!Titans spent time as mindless Titans before the turned human.
So this got me thinking, what if Titans are just an evolution/evolutionary ancestor of humans. Their early development is spent in a mindless state where they only care about feeding, and after they reach a stage of development similar to humans they are released from the place where they develop, specifically the nape of the neck, so when a Titan is hit in the nape of the neck what's actually being hit is developing human in them. This also explains why the Titans can survive a beheading, because they aren't controlled by a brain located there, instead they are controled nby the human/developing human residing in the nape of their necks.

For some reason I liked the opening better the second time as well, haha. Tbh they're actually similarly-themed; some German lyrics (guessing a reference to characters having German names, such as "Yeager"), voices in the echo, a generally dramatic set-up with flashing images etc., it's different yeah but I don't think it's bad by any stretch. Perhaps a little less epic than the last one just because it's a different singer or something, but whatevz...

Haven't caught up on ALL the manga but I will respond to your theory at least

Pretty much... no offense but I think the "theory" is sort of too... idk how to put this, not very deep? Excuse me being blunt, but it's sort of obvious IMO that there's some significant connection between the nape of the neck being the weak spot and the humans inside them. What you have to remember is that the human-titans work differently from the other ones: they don't have any real intelligence, they're almost like robots, they can respond to the sound of another titan and must have SOME sort of receptor that changes their behavior, not to mention there are deviants with odd behavior, but that's not too different from wild-animals in a way, which yes, have intelligence, but not on the level of humans is what I really mean. Human-titans on the other hand, assuming they aren't Eren being taken over, DO still have intelligence, meaning when he's inside there, there's some sort of connection between them.

...Where am I going with this? Not entirely sure except that when the napes get cut the bodies get really hot and like, disintegrate, right? Remember what the girl who's really into studying titans said? Their body mass is super light. How does all that alleged mass and power arise if there's really nothing there? Furthermore don't humans sometimes get spit-out once they get eaten by titans (I remember something like that in the anime)? How would that serve the whole "titans have humans inside them" thing? I think you're on to something but also that just saying titans are humans is... eh, doesn't sound right. Not now, I just can't see it. There's definitely something there and as for how titans reproduce, maybe it DOES have something to do with eating them--maybe there's some magic digestion thing where once a titan eats someone, they can absorb their DNA and use it to produce another titan or something crazy like that, and that's why titans can look like the actual people, but I think we need more information to get any real ideas for now... (granted I didn't read all the manga but yeah)

In the end I'm just thinking too, not trying to shoot your idea, just sort of looking for something deeper if we're going to get into theories, hahaha

So much death... but it seems their deaths weren't in vain, at the moment. The FTT capture can be huge if they pull it off, but it prob won't go that simple because figuring out the mysteries of the titans is what's keeping people hooked right now--let that go and boom, no longer as hooked.

I think I may be picking up on things that aren't really there but I like how:
