Always wanted to give this a shot.

Basically, let's have a tournament to find the 'favourite' unit/character across the series.

Obviously, there are too many for one straight poll. Also, that would be boring. So, I'd make multiple brackets, with a final group at the end.

My only question is how people want it bracketed. By game, or by class?

I think it'd be a bit of fun, hope you guys do as well.

Hmm, I love this idea, but formatting is a problem, how do we want it done?

It could be like, find the best of each class, and then peoples favourite units, then pair off the best unit of each class from each game against each other?

I like the idea of having the characters split up by game. Take 8 or 16 of the most well-known characters from every game (I'm thinking FE4, FE5, FE6, FE7, FE8, FE9-10, FE11-12, and FEA) and do a long stretched series of polls with a new one every week. (I like longer ordeals, so I prefer one on one polls for each week, but it could be done with an entire round of a bracket in one week. That might work better.)

I'd even do graphics if that's desired.

Game or class make equal sense, which is why I was checking to see what's preferred. Seeding could be done for the games by join time, and for classes...I could probably just randomise it.

As for amounts, probably all the recruitable units could be used, but bracket sizes would vary a lot.

For polls, I'd be doing a round per week across every bracket.

In any case, this sounds hype. Would you like to work with me on having it hosted on the mainsite? That would help get more votes, I think. Maybe not a ton unless the poll were on every page, but perhaps at least a little. We could have it one place or the other, both, whatever. Anyhow, I'm on board with whatever.

If we do one round every week, there could be a mainsite link (graphic?) that brings you to a smaller page where you vote on each head-to-head. I think that can give a shot in the arm to the results. Combine those votes to the forum votes if we want to put them in both locations, badabing.

I think putting it on the site is a really good idea.

I think by class will be better but doing it by game would probably prevent the bunch of regularly popular characters from winning such as Mia and Illyana.

Putting it on the mainsite would definitely allow for more votes, so I'm down for making that happen.

I love this idea. Hope it actually happens as it would allow us to (in the end) see who wins the favorite of ALL OF FES. (Or all of us who are actually active. >_>)

Sweet, I'll work on getting some polling software and designing some space to put the poll up. As for doing the graphic thing I think it might be better if we can fit the poll straight-up and if I could somehow give access to bblues to edit the poll or something--pretty much I want something easy for people to vote in because if it isn't they'll be less likely to vote and I want it to be easy to update as well.

In other news, my post count is OVER 9,000!!!

I'm for graphics for the semis/finals of each bracket/last bracket, I didn't want to overwork Shu though. For the opening rounds, we could put a portrait pic, or something, just as a way to draw the eye.

perhaps but that might take up a little more space than I'd like. Perhaps we could have a generic poll graphic that if Shu is too tired/busy to make I could make for the first few rounds and then for the semis/finals I could just edit it slightly to have some alternate text or something. Whatever it is it'd have to work in conjunction with the poll so yeah...

and bblues were you main site staff? man my memory is totally failing me, I'm sure you were forum staff but something about making cool people forum staff makes them post less/go away so yeah I'd prefer you as just a vet unless you can actually stay around this time XD

I was forum staff only, and yeah, I was joking, hence the [s]. However, I do intend to stick around as much as I can, I'm living alone this coming year at uni, which should help in that regard.

Well this sounds fun but I don't really get who you'd do it... Just be having people vote which char is better? or having a debate and stuff?

People would vote on their favourite character in each round.

There'd be a topic for discussion and reasons for why they like character x over y.

Yeah, I prefer a popularity contest but if people wanna argue about which character is better in some regard or something, whatever. Popularity contest is just so simple and people should know it's for fun so there's less crap like "there's no way Lowen is better than Sain! this thing is freaking stupid and rigged" or something lol you can't argue popularity because it's just a matter of seeing who in a certain area likes one thing more than another lol the reasoning is irrelevant~!
