So what do you guys think is the best FE game and give reasons. I will give mine when I take time and look through the games I've played and when it is not 1 AM.

Personally: For me the best Fe game is 6, I just love it to bits, it has everything, good story, great characters, it has its flaws certainly but to m it's the best.

The actual best, I'm not sure, I haven't played Awakening, so I can't talk about it, but I would say 4,5 or 7 is the 'best'. 4 for it's complex mechanics, 5 for it's balls to the wall hard gameplay, 7 for it's storyline and accessability while also posing a challenge

QUOTE
Best FE game: Path of Radiance
1) Difficulty: Not too easy (FE 8). The difficulty could've been a little bit better (if they never took out the Maniac difficulty) but it's alright. Also, it's not the kind of BS difficulty where you're forced to use certain units and certain chapters are completely luck based (FE 7: Hector's Hard Mode Chapter 13x, Hector's Hard Mode Chapter 15 and that chapter where you have to protect Zephiel)
2) Weight system:
Thank God, we don't have that con weight system. Those GBA games were massively biased towards the female units (especially Pegasus Knights and Mages). I don't have to beat any FE games without restricting myself to only Rank E weapons anymore.
3) Support:
None of the support conversations seems to be anywhere near generic to me (don't know why they make all support conversations in Radiant Dawn completely generic). As for the support requirements, at least I don't have to spend 150+ turns on one chapter.

I completely agree with this quote.

Awakening did really good in characterization but fell short in other areas.

I still want an explanation as to why Dark magic was taken out of Fe:9. And they lie about the luck based elements bit.

The chapter with the Black Knight is all luck based, if Aether doesn't activate you can't win.

Still find the difficulty to be more balanced in FE9 than 7. Well at least it's not like FE10 where it's all just Nihil and that's it. As to Dark magic. I dun know... because Pelleas.

I don't know about the difficulty, I've only played Fe:9 once but Ike was able to solo the whole of the last map on his own after hitting 20/20.

I think I'd agree with you though, that the difficulty is more balanced in 9.

I'd give the points for story to 7 though, I think it's better structured than 9's.

Yeah 7 has a better story because it doesn't set itself up for a sequel. Though as the quote said I find the supports in 7 to be more generic than in 9. Which evens it out for me then the better balance in 9 is what made it win.

In what way are the supports more generic?

I thinke each game has it's share of generic supports, like any of the Lords supports in 7. But I think 7 has a ton of interesting supports that flesh out some of the lesser characters.

Renaud is the main case in point, he has one of the most interesting backstories coupled with what you find out in the main storyline regarding Kishuna.

whats also true

is that it is even more annoying as hell to do Renault's supports

@_@

oh and the whole

he's too crappy of a unit for that to be worth doing beyond just getting the supports to begin with thing

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

He's actually not that useless of a unit, he can hold his own, plus he brings huge utility to the team, bringing one of the only fortify staffs in the game to your team.

Last few times I played the chapter though, I kept forgetting he left after turn 12, and just watching him run away...

As far as content and overall game feel goes, it's gotta be Awakening. There's just so much to do in it, it leaves the rest of the series in the dust when it comes to replayability. Plot-wise, FE4 is the forerunner, as far as I can see. If it had more traditional gameplay when it came to maps, it'd be head and shoulders above the rest of the series, easy.

FE13, it's just too good of a game.

Before that, FE7 was my favorite, but probably not the best. I think I'm going to have to give that to FE9, which was pretty amazing all-around, though the enemy phases got really boring (my main gripe, I can't seem to remember anything else all that bad about it lol).

After that maybe FE7 and 12 and 8 in some order... *goes to make a best FE game tier list thread*
