Good Anime to watch?
#1

I loved stuff like Rurouni Kenshin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Gundam Wing, etc.
I'd also like a good place to watch anime for free. Google is having fun taking off all the anime from youtube.
Its a bit late now since the forum is practically dead. I almost keep this sig PURELY for sentimental value xD

Sword Art Online: People get stuck in a video game
Gintama: I haven't watched it but alot of people here recommend it
Code Geass: Exiled prince gets an unknown power that lets him give people orders
FMA brotherhood: Original storyline of the manga turned into anime

Clannad
Clannad After Story
Yu Yu Hakusho
Gurren Lagann
Some favorites off the top of my head. I'll supply links later when I'm not so lazy. Although a general google search should lead you in the proper direction.

I'm looking for a good anime to watch. Preferably with English voicing. |
Well, I was going to suggest Gintama, but it doesn't have a dub (save for the movie, and that particular dub is purportedly subpar). I don't watch that much anime, so the only other recommendation I could make is The Law of Ueki.
...And Snow, what exactly do you mean by "a lot of people recommend it"? Has anyone recommended it other than me? o_O

- Slayers series (4 26 episode seasons, all available as sub and dub legally on YouTube. Era is from 1995-1997 for the first 3 seasons, 2008-2009 for the last two 13 part seasons, which is basically just 1 season). High fantasy show with comedy/action intertwined. Great cast and a perfect "get to know the old shows" feel. Slayers NEXT is still one of the highest rated anime, quite a statement given the short memory span viewers generally have.
- Martian Successor Nadesico (26 episodes, mid-late '90s). Personal favourite. I've described it as M*A*S*H in space, where it's the perfect blend of slapstick humour and gritty storyline. Good questioning of what's right and wrong, as well as a jab at people who obsess over things too seriously. Also the only show I know where I've laughed, then teared up within 5 minutes of each other.
- Stellvia of the Universe (26 episodes, early '00s). Done by the same director as Nadesico, another character driven show. It's almost just a drama; the whole sci-fi part is tacked on. I saw one person review it as such, but I think this sums it up perfectly: "if you're trying to find a more mature show that forces you to think a bit about life, then perhaps this is for you.". It is slow. Really, really slow. I prefer it over cookie cutter harem shows though. Be warned - If you're like me and want things legally, this is a pain if the rear end to find legally. My copy came in a collector's metal tin that spiked the price dramatically.
- Serial Experiments Lain (13 episodes, '90s). Weird doesn't begin to describe half the show. It's downright hostile to you the first go around (the second and on, it's just stellar as well). The back half turns this upside down though...it's probably the best 6 episode segment I've ever seen. I'd wait if you're trying to get this legally - The guy I talked to said they'd be available in cheap box set next year.
- GunXSword (26 episodes, mid 00's, I THINK it's available on YouTube legally). I've got a vivid hate of Gurren Lagann (I'll save that for another topic), so this is my counter offer. A western-action-comedy-mecha...something. It's got a bit of everything. The pace rarely slows down from exciting after a few introduction episodes. Also has a great little metaphor for humorously divided mech fans in terms of nostalgia and Johnny-come-lately feelings.

Because Persona. Not dubbed, actually, but pretty good if you're willing to lower your standards... eh, just go with what Ryan and Kirant said, they'd know well enough. Especially GunXSword and Gurren Lagann. I can confirm that the dub of GXS is legally on Youtube, and I'm pretty sure I've seen GL there too, though Google's not turning anything up and I'm preoccupied at the moment. It's on Netflix if you've got that, though. Happy hunting~
Oh, and I'd say hulu for watching anime. It has quite a few things available for free.
