So, I'm just about finished with my first playthrough of the Last Promise. This topic is about your current impressions with the characters throughout the game. I'll post my experiences so far (Up to Chapter 26).

Siegfried- One of the main characters, and he's overall an incredible asset. He levels up fairly fast and has his own mode to grow. Siegfried's amazing growths, pony, and access to Nothung makes him one of the best characters, if not the best, you have until he leaves.

Shon- Unfortunately, it looks like Shon didn't inherit anything good from his father. His bases are terrible, which really hurts him in the long run. From my experience, he has good Skill, and that's about it. Shon's Strength is atrocious, and Speed is middling. After he promotes and gets Silvans, Shon becomes enormously better, but still isn't up to par with a lot of the cast.

Corben- I wasn't impressed with Corben. He works decent enough in Siegfried's mode, but lack of Speed hurts him a lot. He does have 10 Con and high Luck though; nice assets. I dumped him shortly after getting him back.

Tamiko- Fast-growing staffbot, she'll easily be the first character to promote. Her durability and decent Speed makes Tamiko a great asset for the early Anakin mode chapters. Her combat utility declines later though, due to her fairly low AS. Tamiko's healing and early offense makes her one of the best, and she's easily the prettiest character! happy.gif

Shuuda- This Mercenary's excellent bases makes him extremely easy to fit into any team; he starts one-rounding virtually everything. Shuuda's growths are extremely lopsided, growing very fast offensively, but having poor durability. Throw him an Angelic Robe, and he becomes unstoppable.

Inanna- A cute flybot. Once supports are implemented she'll become a lot better, but for now, she's too weak and fragile to use very effectively.

Kevin- Unlike the main Fire Emblem games, Kevin is a complete monster. He makes the best use of the Speedwing in Siegfried's mode and the Boots. Kevin's Defense is lower than his contemporaries, but still high enough to be virtually invincible. He's essential to get through the first several chapters of Anakin's mode.

Arthur- He's a loser. Arthur can barely do chip damage on his joining chapter. There's nothing redeeming about this failure.

Storm- Storm is really helpful for Siegfried's route, and his Storm Bringer bow is nice. However, he rejoins too late to be of much use.

Althares- Theif utility isn't very useful in this game. However, his 15% Critical boost helps him offensively, and leveling him up is a good idea for Anakin's mode. I threw him an Angelic Robe in Siegfried's mode, making him a very nice unit for those first few chapters of Anakin's mode.

Cia- Like Kevin, but better. Her durability issues are fixed in Siegfried's mode due to buyable Angelic Robes and she one-rounds everything. She's incredible, and will only become better once supports are implemented. Cia makes the hardest parts of the game far easier to deal with.

Noah- He's a great asset in Siegfried's mode. I forgot to recruit him in Anakin's mode, so I can't say anything about that.

Haas- Monstrous while he's around in Siegfried's mode. Unfortunately, his bases aren't competative on being re-recruited; 15 Speed is just too slow.

Anakin- Dancebot, Staffbot, and decent offense. His early promotion is actually an asset, because of the Movement gain and Staff access. He's the perfect utility unit.

Ace- His bases are alright. I think I got RNG-screwed with him, because he never did grow much. I had to ditch him and replaced him with Rex.

Eduardo- 30 HP is really nice, and that's about it. Eduardo's unique Charge Lance could be a nice asset, but his low accuracy makes him unreliable.

Karina- As Nayr's replacement, she's supposed to play a similar role as a high-base powerhouse. Unfortunately, the enemies are a lot stronger than previous versions, so Karina is not nearly as powerful as her predecessor. I miss Nayr.

Kelik- Honestly, I wasn't impressed with Kelik; probably a result of bad RNG. His durability is poor early on, and after promotion, his AS is just shy of doubling. He's okay, nothing really exceptional.

Logan- His 20 base HP makes Logan virtually unusuable, which makes me very unhappy.

Itsuke- I didn't use him much, but he seems pretty cool. Itsuke's offense and decent AS helps a lot as a filler character in the early chapters. He's probably really good, but I just didn't use him much.

Zach- He has a cool HP base, but I didn't bother with him.

Lirin- Didn't use her. She seems like a loser.

Tekun- I must have been severely screwed with Tekun. This guy's bases are atrocious, and his AS sucks. I really hope mine was just a victim of the RNG, because Takun is really bad.

Emma- Her Luck sucks; mine has 4 at level 20/12! Like Tamiko, she's a great Staffbot. Her offense is mediocre on promotion, but high Movement and Defense makes her an exceptional healer.

Ben- He's Karina with high Resistance. Ben and Emma are obviously incestuous, which is a plus, but not to actually warrant using him. Though once supports are added... wink.gif

Mark- He's some random-ass Pirate with decent bases. I didn't use him.

Lyam- This guy's high bases makes him a great filler character. Unfortunately, he grows extremely slowly; the worst EXP gains in the game! His utility doesn't really falter too much; Lyam's A rank in Sword and Bow makes him a very helpful filler character.

Rex- Ace, but faster and with low Skill. I'm not impressed.

Howard- He's a really solid character. Howard's bases are pretty impressive, with just enough base Speed to double most enemies, and he cap-rams it fast. His low Skill is a problem, but it isn't too big of a deal. Howard's a very good character on join, easily the best Paladin out of the four.

Yue- I promoted him immediately, but his bases don't really carry him far. He's helpful on his joining chapter, but Rana's better.

Sai- Why does this guy exist.

Levion- This guy's bases look incredible. Unfortunately, he's lacking in Speed, severely hampering his offense. Out of the two prepromote Paladins, he's the defensive one, while Howard is better offensively. I used both, but while Levion is pretty good, he was still a bit disappointing.

Liquid- His bases are just too low to be of much use.

Risk- Filler Swordmaster, nothing more.

Leopold- 22 base Defense is nice. His B weapon ranks are disappointing, as is having an AS just shy of doubling. Still, Leopold makes a decent filler flyer.

Shadow- Late-game door-opener and good Speed. Not much else to say about him.

Rana- Better than Yue. He's slow, but has nice weapon ranks. Not much to say about him.

Alice- I didn't use her at all. She seems okay, I guess.

Gary- GARY MUTHAF**KING WARRIOR! His stats are monstrous!

Frederick- Capped Defense is nice, but he can't do much of anything with 5 Movement and all the magic-users in the upcoming chapter.

Rachel- I really don't see what people have against her. Her base stats are passable, and S Bows makes her a viable filler for the final chapter.

And that's all, so far! So, what were your experiences?

Sieg: Well I don't really know what to say his stats speak for themselves. If he didn't leave before the ending he would be the best character in the game. Also one of the few prepromotes I can tolerate.

Shon: For me he came out surprisingly good. He was basically a Gordon but with more speed. I gave him the Ether sphere and he became a godly unit, sadly I had to restart and he hasn't been as good since. He is still better than the last patch time though.

Gordon: I didn't use him much because Shon is pretty much a forced Cav. I did use him for Seigs mode but when I got him back he was pretty much ignored save for the emblem weapons.

Tamiko: Staffbot. Got her to level 18 in Seigs mode and promoted her the second I got a guiding ring.

Shudda: One of my main units he starts out great, with speed skill and decent attack, and all of these get better over time. He sadly doesn't get much on the defensive side but he is still one of the better units in the game.

Innana: I don't use fliers, I have no idea why I just can't. I sometimes use wyverns but rarely. I tried to give her a few levels in Seigs mode but that was about it.

Kevin: I did not use him. That move man... He does have some awesome defense.

Arthur: He sucks. PERIOD.

Storm: Storm gets double EXP in Seigs mode so he is pretty good. At least for me anyways. I spended Seigs mode getting my 6 main guys from this mode to a good level, so there was plenty of EXP to give to him. Got him to level 16 than babied him for 1 chapter till he could promote.

Althares: I really like this guy. I gave him the boots and leveled him as much as I could in Seigs mode and he was a beast in Anakin early mode. Sadly he reached level 20 and was stuck at that for like 7 chapters. The arena in chapter 23x solved this but still I wish he promoted sooner. That critical is just a plus.

Cia: She is a beast! A beast made of glass, but still a beast. She has great magic great speed and decent skill. Kinda like Shudda but in mage form. I paired her with Itsuke since he has more durability.

Noah: He's a prepromote. I only got him to get the divine sword in anakin's mode.

Hass: Prepromote. Also he comes back really late and he doesn't have the monster growths he used to have.

Anakin: He can motivate and attack. He has decent growths, good speed, skill and res, but his magic isn't top tier. His early promotion helps, it was easy for me to train him to level 19 before it.

Ace: I know this guy is a beast but for some reason every time I play this he gets strength screwed. I fix this with strong weapons but I wish I had more luck. Also look at that defense base and his NAME.

Edwardo: Prf weapon, but his skill is too low early on to use it. He also has the same problem ass Gordon, I already have Shon as a Cav.

Karina: I do not use fliers. Sorry.

Logan: I got him and saw he was just as bad as before. The only picture of a grown Logan I have seen though is a complete beast though, so I might try using him. Man that base health... WHy can't you be the boss you...

Asch: will post soon.

Itsuke: Go durable mage. For me he always turn out to be a great unit, he has way more durability than Cia if trained, and he gets more or less the same speed. Great Cia replacement but I always use them both.

Kelik: Godly. He gets great everything. He never once suffered in my entire game. after his promotion he could have soloed most chapters. Hell once I was stuck for like 3 days on one and said "screw it" so I just threw Kelik out there and he destroyed everything.

Zach: Already have Storm. I tried to use him once but he got skill screwed.

Lirin: No fliers.

Tekun: His bases suck. However he is a late bloomer. I trained him up to level 20 and was about to give up but I promoted him to see what he was like. After chapter 21 with the sword Risk comes with he got so frickin good. He became a watered down Kelik, he may have been able to solo a chapter but I haven't tried.

Emma: Outshined by Tamiko.

Ben: I might try using him this time.

Mark: I tried to use him but he started to fall behind. way behind.

Lyam: Storm replacement. He served me well in the Blaine chapter.

Rex: Didn't use him. Already had Ace

Howard: Didn't use him.

Yue: Already had 3 magic guys. Stole his amulet though.

Levion: I like this guy and his stats are pretty good. Shame he leaves so early.

Risk: Just got him for the sword. It was hard to do with Ben at level 10. TIP: If you want to finish the chapter fast and get the secret, Risk can kill the boss in one round.

Leopold: Preferred the Sylmaria.

Shadow: Had Althares.

Alice: No fliers.

Rana: already had enough magic.

And here my save file was erased. when I get to the other characters I will post them.

Sieg: In earlygame, he's everything Shon wanted to be. In lategame, Shon's everything he wanted to be. Average, pretty much.

Shon: WOW FOR ONCE SHON DOESNT SUCK. He actually had the same stats as Siegfried (I kid you not, same everything) EXCEPT Luck, which he had a significant lead in.

Gordon: Early-game, he was servicable. Lategame, he didn't do much.

Tamiko: All she's good for is staves, If I wanted a magic powerhouse, I'd go with Cia and Itsuke. But since she's usually the first to get Fortify, I always have her on my team.

Shuuda: Stereotypical merc. Great str and overkill skill and speed. His durability fades out in the later end of the game though.

Innana: I used her all the way up until I got Alice. Then she sat on the bench the rest of the way because I hated her HP and Def.

Kevin: Not bad, but not great. He does his job as a wall, but once I get the other units leveled up to par, he loses his purpose.

Arthur: Why does he even exist with those bases? You would think in an effort to balance the characters, Blazer would give Arthur and Logan something to justify even using them, but... why?

Storm: His rejoining time kills him, though I will admit i sat back and babied him, and was WELL-rewarded.

Althares: Pretty much a Matthew clone. Not much to say.

Cia: EVERYTHING LILINA WISHED SHE WAS. Great magic and great speed means she's one-rounding a ton of enemies. Her skill really sucks, but I really got blessed this round. (23 skill? Wtf...)

Noah: Never used him. Never re-recruited him because I never knew he could be recruited.

Hass: His new bases make him usable. Storm's better though.

Anakin: The best unit in the game IMO.

Ace: Not bad, but that strength really can stink at times...

Edwardo: Absolute beast. Great tank early on thanks to his absurd HP growth, and his other stats never fall behind enough to seriously hamper him. On record, he capped HP, Str, and Speed, and had around 18 def.

Karina: The best flyer in the game, hands down.

Logan: See Arthur.

Asch: Never used him, but reports say he's not bad at all. Maybe I'll consider.

Itsuke: Cia is supposed to be slightly better than him, but MY GOD WAS HE A BEAST. Capped Mag, Skill, Speed, Def, AND Res.

Kelik: You know, for a swordmaster wannabe, his speed is really unimpressive. I've used him twice, and both times he failed to cap speed.

Zach: Feh. I didn't bother with him at all. He couldn't throw a can of mountain dew at an enemy 3 feet away from him, let alone damage them.

Lirin: Did Blazer lower the speed growth for her? If so, she's best used as a benchwarmer. Say what you will, but 15 speed at Lv5 Falcoknight is MUCH TOO LOW.

Tekun: If you want a swordmaster, wait until Risk. His bases are rather mediocre, and his growths aren't going to help those bases much at all.

Emma: Better than Tamiko because of the 8 mov and EXISTANT SPEED.

Ben: I wanted to use him because he had 18 def and 18 res at Lv6 Wyvern Lord, but my roster began to fill up.

Mark: He's like Geese, but better. He has above average (but not great) Str, Skill, and Speed. I guess that's not bad, but it could be better.

Lyam: Not bad. Servicable, but once other people began promoting, he started losing his use.

Rex: An Ace clone. That's all he is.

Howard: I used him in Ch21, but that's about it. He's not bad, but Eduardo is better.

Yue: I'm considering using him next run, actually, because of the need of Solstice.

Sai: You can rag on about him having the best growths in the game, but he turn exactly into Gary. What's the point of even using him then?

Levion: He's basically Kevin on a horse. That str really stinks though.

Risk: He's pretty good. He has really low def, but if you want the firepower, he's got it.

Leopold: Wasn't bad, but Ben, Karina, and Alice were better.

Shadow: Useful as a 2nd lockpicker. Not much else to him though.

Alice: The best pegasus knight of the bunch, and the 2nd best flyer in the game. Never at one point has she let me down.

Rana: Never used him, but from what reports told me, he's decent as a replacement for Yue.

Gary: Sai turns exactly into him. What's the point of even using Sai? I used him in the recruiting chapter, but since my roster was full, I couldnt take him along in any of the next chapters.

Fredrick: He suffers the Karel syndrome that he can only gain one level. Only use if you desperately need a wall unit.

Rachel: ...seriously? It's impossible to get her to Lv20 because the next chapters she could possibly participate have only bosses in it. And the only chapter that could potentially have mook reinforcements she could milk levels off of is Finale 1. But for some stupid reason, Blazer didn't even consider that. Instead, we get stuck with someone who's not even in double-digits in levels, and can hardly improve at all because there's not much for her to level on to begin with at all. Unless you deliberately play only half the map and turtle your way through the joining chapter netting her kills, but that takes far too long and will kill your tactics ranking before you can even say the word "Promise". If she had mook reinforcements in the next chapters she could get into, she wouldn't be so bad, but honestly, she has nothing going for her, AT ALL. At least Logan and Arthur and EVEN SAI have a mathematical chance of being at 20/20. She can't. At all.

I finished the game, so I updated the front post. I'm really not seeing what people have against Rachel. Her S in Bows is fairly handy.

Rachel- I really don't see what people have against her. Her base stats are passable, and S Bows makes her a viable filler for the final chapter.

How are they passable? She can't even survive long enough before recruitment. And 15 str/17 speed at this stage of this game is atrocious.

I've played through the game twice, so I'll out in my 2 cents tongue.gif

Siegfried- He was aiight. Nothung came in handy. Didn't use him too much because of his weak defense.

Shon- Shon is okay. In m first run he didn't get 20 and ended up kinda average, but in my second run I did his whole sidequest to get the uber Silvans. He was a complete boss from that point forward.

Corben- My first playthrough he had overkill strength but didn't get speed (he was being doubled by random things) so I dumped him early into Anakin's mode. My second playthrough he didn't get any strength, but had overkill speed. WTF.

Tamiko- Useful in the beginning because of staffs, and she promotes really fast (will likely hit 20 before the end of Sieg's mode without much effort). But in both my playthroughs she ended up average...not a lot of magic, and she would either be doubled by everything or just barely not be doubled. I think I got screwed with her.

Shuuda- Boss. 'nuff said.

Inanna- She's not that great, in my experience. Early game flyer, but she has no overkill generic peg knight stats, so she's not dodging or reliably killing magic units. Got her to 20/17 and she wasn't amazing.

Kevin- Never used Kevin.

Arthur- Cool in Sieg's mode but becomes useless. Never used him.

Storm- Never used him.

Althares- Not bad. Used him once and he capped strength and speed.

Cia- My Cia turned out terrible. 20/20 with 21 magic...ugh. She was a pain throughout the game.

Noah- Never used him.

Haas- Never used.

Anakin- The man. Dances, can use staffs, AND can fight! His magic growth is a little shoddy, making his offense pretty bad in the latter half of the game, but once he gets his Alustrona he's boss.

Ace- My Ace was completed RNG blessed. Max strength, skill, speed and resistance by 20/20 with over 20 defense. BOSS.

Eduardo- Better than Corben, imo. Has great HP so he'll be tanking in the early game decently. His strength will easily cap and his speed won't be too far behind. Tapers off in the latter end of the game though because his hp isn't so overwhelming by that point.

Karina- Not great, in my experience. She ended up pretty average. Decent durability, decent offense.

Kelik- Poor durability in his joining chapter but oh man, does he get awesome. My latest Kelik maxed strength, skill, speed and defense. A lucky charm got him max luck and one angelic robe got him max hp. Sweet Jesus.

Logan- Screw Logan.

Itsuke- Used him instead of Cia my second time around. Turned out better in every possible way.

Zach- He turned out solid. A good chip-damager/glass cannon. The S rank bow allows him to not get doubled by the final boss so that's always nice.

Lirin- Didn't use her.

Tekun- One of those units that doesn't get good until the higher levels when stats start to max. He had fairly even str/skill/speed throughout the game but nothing overwhelming. But when those started to max he was unkillable.

Emma- Decent staffer. Promoted because staffs give tons of exp, but didn't use her much offensively. Turned out okay. Good defense though.

Ben- I think mine got rng screwed. He didn't even have high res (a little higher than Karina's by endgame). Didn't get good until the later lvlvs, like 20/15/16 etc.

Mark- Great guy. Used him both times, turned out better the second. Great strength growth, above average speed and okay skill. Too bad axes are useless on the final boss.

Lyam- Didn't use him.

Rex- Reminds me of Fe10 Aran but without skill. Not a bad character, made a great tank with Leviathon.

Howard- Never used him.

Yue- Got him to 20 in his joining chapter and promoted him. Very, very awesome. Great magic and speed. Good as a staffbot too. Also, that spell with uber defensive boosts makes him great as bait.

Sai- Terrible start, but amazing growths. Almost turned out better than Mark, but had bow utility as well.

Levion- No speed hurts him a loy.

Liquid- Never used him.

Risk- Recruited him for his sweet sword but then dumped him.

Leopold- Always chose Sylmeria.

Shadow- Meh. He can open doors and assassinate people if you want him to. Not much else.

Rana- Never used him because I had Yue.

Alice- Might be the best of the peg knights because the other two are terrible, and Alice starts promoted.

Gary- Holy sh**. He's THE MAN. Makes Sai useless. Mark is still okay because he's a berserker and not a warrior.

Frederick- He's awesome against the final boss. Give him Leviathon and he can tank it pretty well.

Rachel- Useless. Will likely die before you can recruit her unless you're one turn away. If you used Zach or Storm then you should recruit her for the S bow, but if not you can let her die and it won't matter.

So as I'm playing the first few chapters, my characters dodge pretty often. Pretty cool.

I get the chapter where we recruit Tamiko. Kelik is an NPC there, and also the fastest person yet seen in game.

Kelik gets his ass kicked by brigands with steel axes.
