Yeah, so I'm pretty freaking excited and need to tell people. I'm trying to keep it as secretive from irl friends as possible so I can provide them with a nice WTF when I throw a hardcover book with my name on it in their faces

so it's coming here first.
Note: This post has been cleaned and revamped!
News and updates! It's out!-You can buy it on Barnes and Noble:
http://www.barnesand...-...+royal+seal, Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co...tmm_pap_title_0- I get my 60 complimentary copies in two weeks. 40 paperback, 20 hardcover. If you want a signed copy with some extra goodies, then I would wait. (It'll also be a bit cheaper.) But if you want it now, I recommend buying off Amazon (it's the cheapest reseller atm.) If you want to buy from B&N, I suggest buying it from my publisher-- same price, but I get more royalties if it's done off my publisher's store. Heh.
-It's not available for Kindle, I believe. But it is available for Nook. Sorry about that.
General facts about the book The title:
The Dream War:
The Royal SealWritten by yours truly under my pseudonym (pen name) Nick Alex. Why? My last name is far too long :S
-It's a fiction/fantasy/medieval novel.
-I write to entertain.
-It's written in a more modern style rather than, say, LOTR, to attract a larger fan base.
-It's the first book of a four part series.
-It's 222 pages.
-It's pretty damn awesome.
About the story -It's very fast-paced and action-packed. There isn't a lot of "downtime" and even when there's some sort of long dialogue between characters, expect something to be happening elsewhere.
-There's a lot of dialogue, and each of the main characters has a distinctly different dialect (way of speaking) from the others. 75% of the dialogue you can guess who is speaking before reading "so-and-so said" just by looking at how they talk.
-Instead of describing certain things through narrative, I have a character speak it instead.
-Speaking of dialogue, it's one of my greater strengths. Expect many meaningful phrases and quotes.
-It's violent. The beginning fight scenes start off tame, but it doesn't stay that way for long. Expect to cringe when you read some of my battle scenes.
-It's emotional. You'll get a strong sense that my characters are real, and their problems will (hopefully) invoke reactions.
-It's HILARIOUS. Especially in the beginning. Expect many wondrous one-liners from my comic-relief character.
-Each of the 75,000 words I've chosen is necessary. There are no long, drawn-out descriptions of people's hair, the floor, curtains, or other stupid crap that writers feel the need to describe heavily. Simply put, it's blunt and straight forward.
-To sum it up: it's an action-packed thriller that will make you cringe in disgust, tear up from sadness, and laugh your head off.
An excerpt! (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
It was late, but he couldn’t sleep. His mother and father were arguing again, like they always did at night. They thought they were keeping their sons, who they both loved very much, out of it, but little did they know that their oldest tossed, turned and listened to every word, every night.
Tonight was much worse than it had ever been. His mother was crying and screaming while his father relentlessly yelled.
“Luna, time and time again I’ve caught you! You must stop this heresy!”
“No! You can’t control me, Terrowan!” she yelled back. Her voice became disturbing; it sounded like the normal voice of a woman, but was riddled with a deep, demonic undertone, as if her vocal cords were slowly becoming possessed by the Lord of Hell. . .
“I am going to master this . . . thisss power! I will be the first to use it for good; I will protect our boys, I will protect everyone! I just need. . .more. . .more power. . .”
“As the last of the Holy Warriors, I will not allow this! I shall not, cannot, and will not sit idly while my own wife studies the Forbidden Arts!”
All of a sudden, a brief flash of fire erupted in the darkness. It was over in a second, but Tristan would forever feel its burn.
Afterward, his father’s voice became more somber, and Tristan could hardly make out what he was saying.
“And my nightmares have been confirmed. . .” he said. “Not only are you falling victim to the seduction of the Forbidden Arts, you can cast it as well.”
“Can’t you ssseee, Terrowan? With this poWer, I can de—StrOy. . .”
“I see it plainly, and I have but one solution. Luna, I command you to leave my house! Your soul has already been corrupted down to the core; now the magic will consume you from within. You are beyond saving, let alone salvation!”
“Heh..heh heh heh. . .Terrowan, you would simply thRoW me oUt? YoUR beLoVeD wIfe?
“. . . It has already consumed most of your heart . . . I am sorry, Luna, my love. . .”
Another flash of light blinded the room. This time, however, it was not fire, but of pure, holy energy. It was strong enough to wake both of Tristan’s brothers up; the poor youngest child began bawling his one year old eyes out. And in another instant, his mother was gone, fleeing at the sight of his father’s Holy Magic.
Terrowan barged into his children’s room and took all of them in his arms. “Where’s Mommy?” “What happened to Mommy?” the two oldest repeatedly cried, tears streaming down their faces.
And their father could not help but shed one himself.
“Mommy’s gone,” he sniffled. “For a long, long time.”
But yeah. Pretty damn excited.
