I want to know what I can improve on it

Edit : To Richter : Is the last right pic on the second row better (it's a slash using the 2 hand just like you described) ?
On another note : do you have some idea for a good-looking palette (I was thinking of purple and I don't know. I think I'll post two set, one bare torso like I said before and one with purple clothes)

First, I have to ask, is this just a recolor, or did you change some things? (I've never seen the one leg sticking out before, but I haven't played past FE 8, so I wouldn't know)

Second, The color scheme is used to much, Red on black is used for everything nowadays, try making a new trend.

Third.....Its better than I could have done. I'm only in Face sprites at the moment, and mostly just splicing and recoloring, so don't take anything I say to heart.

Fourth, At times, it looks like she only has one arm, mainly in stationary mode.

Fifth, when does she switch hands? I see she holds the sword with the closest hand, but hits with the farthest hand. When does this switch take place?

Sixth, What does her crit hit look like. I'm only seeing a normal attack(Again, noob to this, so I may just be looking wrong)

That's really good, but I'd like the say the sword might be a bit long...it could go under the ground for its low sweeps I don't know. I don't know if that's a particularly big deal either. In the last frame on the second row..what's that supposed to be beyond her sholder? (to the direct left of it)

Thanks for your post, now time to answer some questions.

To Richter : First it is a half custom battle sprite using FE7 Lyn's legs, FE6 Fyr's torso and head. The arms movement are my own (maybe that's why it's kind of messed up) . Plus the (bad) recolor.

Second : The black and red palette was taken at random but since you said that I'll make another one. (purple and brown may look good for this one or maybe bare torso with aid band around the chest like female warrior)

Third : I also see your work so there no problem saying what you think. It's thank to this that peoples improve, right ?

Fourth : It was kinda hard to draw this because I wanted to draw a left-handed character (there's none in video game ) so the right arm is hidden by her torso.
In the stationary, the character's back is showing in a 3/4 position with the right leg
forward (I thought it looked cool and tested it on a dummy to see if it was doable)

Fifth : Fourth answer that if you zoom. She never switches hand but the blade switches position (from the right of the character to the up/left, kinda confusing I know)

Sixth : you're right there was no critical (at that moment I was brainstorming to draw one)

To Stefan : I know that the sword is long (well I wanted to make a samurai/ronin female class) but tested it on VBA and it look kinda good (except for the timing)
Well since the character's a girl, in this position I thought that her chest would stick out . So ...

Oh, yeah, I see that now. Sorry, didn't mean to point out something simple like that.....But now another....If she is Left handed, why is she hitting with her right hand? Simply put, it may be better to just have her bring the sword down with both hands.

And heres a thought for a crit...Go normal Samurai...sword at side, fast dash, slice. Simplicity beats having to think for days about what your going to do.

@Stefan, Now that you mention it, I do see it, but it only seems to show in one area, on the downbeat of the sword(Farthest right, second Row. Look close and you do see a.....Something sticking out.....But dispite what your saying, Ein, I would have to say its not her bust, because her bust wouldn't be sticking out like that, unless she were....Say a Triple *Edit*(Messed up and hit z instead of)C*End edit*....And no offense, but I don't think a woman on any earth or time period had that big a bust(And survived long, especially as a samurai/ronin). No, what it looks like is that you forgot to take the shoulder out.

Thanks you for checking the pic Richter and Stefan (see first post for the new image). I did take your comment into account and here the result (thanks to you it's actually more badass than before). I am currently spriting the crit (you know what ? you're right : nothing can beat simplicity)

PS : I took a look at your work. The best for me were the Rath/Will splice, the female myrmidon Ivory and your avatar.

Simplicity is nice, but who says you can't throw in something a little extra? Just to give it that extra bit of flair for fun.

Here is what I mean. Have her start at her normal stance and then bring the sword out in front of her holding it with both hands. Next she brings the sword to her side. Then she dashes forward and does a single slice (or stab) to the enemy. As for her return image well thats up to you.

Anyways looking good for now can't wait to see the changes to it.

well I tried to do as you said raigntk and it's true that's this stance is handsome (I wanted to draw an overhead stance but failed. That was kinda hard. I 'll show the result when it's finished)
For the crit as this stance look like a kendo stance I think I'll draw a stab at torso level then a slash (like the normal attack or another form maybe)

And thanks for lookin Ein. Those are my newest works, so yeah, they would be the best so far.

To Stefan : Sorry I was substituting the old pic with the new and complete one (with all the movement set)
But there was a problem with the hosting site (a decrease in the quality of the pic), so I needed to cut it in 3 parts.

To Raigntk : Shoot I totally forgot that. Well that will be done later, don't worry.

But I have a question about the disarm animation. Should I use the same as the one in the pic but without weapon or should I make a new one ?

(Looking again, the colors are not that bad....I did have a headache yesterday, so that may have made my eyes wacky)

That would look interesting, cause it would look like she is stopping the enemy weapon with her hands(Which is harder than it looks...I've still got cuts and gashes all over from trying to take on a full armor knight with my bare hands....And why? Cause the bastard broke my spear....)

I didn't see this page before posting.....I'm not entirely sure, but...shouldn't the images be different. I've never worked with Battle sprites, so i don't know.

Well I took a look at all the original sprite sheets and they all have the same standing and dodge position armed or unarmed. So I did it this way.

(RP: man you're quite reckless Richter. That's why I always have around 5 spares but it's really a hassle to carry (Not that it will help against spear heavy knights but if I strike a weak spot, maybe...))

I try to make aid band but it was really horrible. I'll stick with the current sheet to do the animation. (man I hate to do the frame script since you don't know immediately how your work will look like)

edit: I'll post here the link for the animated sprite (look good except the black border). For now only the dodge and normal melee are finished (man timing it is really the worst)

edit2: Well for the melee attack I put the war cry (before attacking) in the script. Man my ribs hurt because of laughing to much.
On another note, I'll change the palette: in game it doesn't look natural (too flashy as you said before Richter)

*Blinks* Ein, you sound like your talking about in a game....I'm talking about in real life.*A friend of a friend of mine is a blacksmith, and I pissed off this friend once....Well.....the end result was still a draw, but....)
