I see no resson to stop doing soomething like watching anime. Don't go around discussing it if you feel awkward, but who cares what you watch?

Considering that anime encompasses such a large age range that you can't just say that its for one specific age group. Its like cartoons and comics. Usually western cartoons and comics are considered juvenile but would you be showing South Park to your 6 year old, or letting your 9 year old read The Crow?
...thought not.
I don't usually watch anime though. I can't stand something that doesn't have a beginning, middle and end and 99% of anime (and shows in general) don't have this. To prove my point, I've watched a grand total of 4 different pieces of Japanese animated material in the last 12 months, and I'm thinking about maaaaybe watching a 5th. Out of what I've seen, 2 were a waste of my time, 1 was awesome because it was cynical and 1 had cool art but made no damn sense.

when you go to bed at night you have up to 3 people you have to answer to.
1. youreslf
2. your spouse
3. if its your thing, God
when i go to bed, i wouldnt be able to live with myself if i let other peoples opinions of me influence what i do, what hobbies i have, what i say, anything. if someone doesnt like me for who i am, in the big picture of things its BETTER for both of us not to be friends. the friends i do have are friends of me, not some lie illusion i create to try to make myself look "good". And people respect me for it, friend or not (has been said to me on numerous occasions by friends, not friends, teachers, people older, people younger, and stuff)
so if you like anime, then be proud of that fact, and if anyone doesnt like it, then they arent worth your time

I'd say once you're 20 you should probably only tell it to your friends who also watch it or understand you. Although anyone might make several judgments about you just by telling them that you watch anime.
I personally don't tell people unless the topic comes up. And it seems to be the same for everyone I know. XP

Actually, I'm quite sure that a pedophile would be aware and probably ashamed of the kind of person that they are - there's a reason that pedophiles don't go around telling everyone that they're into kiddies.
That being said, the social acceptability of watching anime really depends on the kind of circles you move in. I have a bunch of white friends who would give me weird looks if I talked about how much anime I used to watch. Conversely, there's a bunch of friends that I have who wouldn't really care.

This was a funny joke, let me just say. You're a big deal irl and yet you go to FE forums? :V
Either way, those would be pretty shitty friends, if they disliked you based on what you watch. A true friend would tease you to hell and back about it, but at the end of the day, you'd be better friends for remaining together despite your differing interests, if anything.

Hey, it's not totally out of the picture bud. If he sacrifices a few hours of sleep to go on forums, play games, and watch anime a little he could still be a big deal IRL.
Admittedly I do find it somewhat difficult simply because I go on FE forums and watch anime and play video games but that also means i can't excel in sports or social...ness... *cant think of the word*, so yeah, I'm no big deal, just your average do-it-all and know-it-all but only to 50%.

I don't browse forums too much. I browse FEshrine for like 15 minutes a day. I got banned from total war centre, so I can't post there until the ban expires. I don't really watch anime. I tried watching the idolmaster like 3 days ago because my friend recommended it to me. It made me want to vomit.. anime truly is dead.
I play games a lot though, like 10+ hours a day. Currently playing mountain blade. anyone interested in it?

pedos dont tell people what they are into cuz of the end result, not cuz they are ashamed. there is a much larger number that justify what they are into as opposed to those that are truly remorseful for what they are into. not everyone has the same "moral compass". they dont tell others because even though they think they are in the right, they realize that most people dont agree with them and they see how much more difficult life would be if they were known for that.
i put that in quotes because the fact that we precieve pedophilia as evil is entirely based on society and it being punished under the law in such a harsh way. dont get me wrong, i agree with the law being what it is, because i agree with why its in place (not because its evil). but if pedophilia was TRULY evil, then everyone in the times of the romans and the ancient greeks and stuff would be burning in hell or something because the average age of a girl getting married then was around 12-15
