So, a new Super Smash Bros will be a release game for when the Wii-U comes out, and there's likely going to be tons of new characters.

Who out of the FE series has a chance to make the cut?

Note: Let's keep it reasonable. Meaning, try and pick people who would actually make sense (no Canas, Erk, Gatrie, other minor characters). This pretty much leaves us with main characters and main villains. That is, unless you have a good argument for a minor character (like, Joshua, perhaps) then feel free to spout it!

My picks (assuming Ike and Marth stay):

Main characters:
Fairly limited due to lots of Marth clones, but let's see what we can do >.>

Lyn: Could be the "meta knight" of FE with super fast attacks and stuff. One of the only sword using Lords that doesn't fall into the "Marth" archetype, I think.

Ephraim- Unique to the series because he's a primary lance-user. Would make for an interesting character in Smash Bros just because of this.

Hector- Same as Ephraim; axes would be a new and different idea in Smash. However, he may just end up being an Ike clone unless Ike is changed somewhat.

Villains:
Since most villains/final bosses are magic users/demons/dragons/gods/dragon gods, we're fairly limited here XD

Though, if they found a way to make Nergal a brawler I'd be totally down for that. and his final smash should be calling a dragon.

Zelgius- Since Smash Bros has been throwing in villains lately, I think Zelgius would be perfect. Again, he essentially may be an Ike clone unless something different is done with him/Ike is changed in the next game. He also has potential for event mode, due to him and Ike's rivalry. And, a special move where he turns into the BK would be pretty interesting (final smash maybe?)

Ashnard- Pretty much same as above. Still falls under the "heavy" category though. BUT, a final smash of him flying around on Raijion (butchered spelling) would be pretty awesome.

So, what do y'all think?

Well, Marth's definitely in, unless FE gets cut out of SSB. It would be cool to see MU in there so that you would have a somewhat customizable character, but that could pretty easily come out lame. There's also the potential for the protagonist of FE13, seeing as the new SSB is only just starting to be worked on. As far as past characters, well that would seem strange unless FE gets more slots.

Unless there is a new game between now and then, I reckon we are stuck with Marth for now.

I like the Zelgius Idea, but I think it could be a Zelda/shiek thing (or just BK). Zelgius would be slightly faster, smaller sword, lighter. BK would be heavier, slower, more powerful, hard to knock back, but can't jump. Then for final smash he could use Luna - seeing as Ike uses Aether.

Otherwise there is not a whole lot more I could add to your list. Maybe Tiki as a manakete? I'm sure they could think of something.

It is my honest opinion that Hector, Roy, Eirika, and and Eliwood are out...They all either follow a Marth clone, or just a, how the hell does that work, model.

Other minor classes that I would say are out are, Pegasus and Wyvern knights, Cavaliers, Clerics, and their promoted classes.

You might be able to use Archers, but I feel they would be more of a Solid snake clone than anything(Hiding under boxes aside). I think most Axemen would be out, because of how slow their attacks would be. The Myrmidons would be a nice FE Meta Knight, as stated by Bobryk.

I think that the original form of Amelia would be a good one to put in, just because she isn't a heavy knight who can't move fast, and still uses a spear. Story events could include her joining just to prove herself as a competent warrior.

I think the Thief class would be interesting too, being able to take the hard earned items of the other smash characters...."Give me your bunny ears. *Yoink*"

well let's suppose that there's going to be a max of 3 fire emblem characters in the one.

we all know that marth will be taking up 1 of those.

we have a fair chance of having Roy comeback, but who knows, doesn't matter anyway since Roy is just a clone of Marth.

Hoping Ike will make a comeback since he was my favorite in Brawl.

a unit from FE10 ( or maybe FE11) might show up in it, or maybe a lord from FE7-10.

who knows who they're gonna use from fire emblem; we'll have to wait and see

Here's how I see it.
Ike - In
Marth - In
Roy isn't coming back.
Black Knight was my choice because he's super badass.

But, I was thinking maybe Micaiah. She's like a Zelda with the whole magic thing which I think would be pretty damn awesome.
Or Lyn, because she's already an assist trophy.

The way I see it, Lyn should stay an assist. No offense. She was a major kick ass character, but I think she is best as an assist. She gets to stay true to her badass reputation.

As for magic, I see to much of a Lucario thing happening, or maybe a *Shudder* Lucas.

Well, assuming ANY new characters will be added..

Hector, Roy, and Eliwood are out, because their games are too old.

Leaving... FE12. I suppose Chris HAS A CHANCE. They could make him use all types of different weapons to make him original (since he can be any class).

Black Knight and/or Zelgius have little to no chance of being in, the way I see it. Besides the fact that FE9's a little old, he just seems hella too bulky to jump very high or get flown very high. With all that armor and that big ass sword he'd probably just fall right back down, even WITH SSB's weird physics.

It'd be pretty chill if Roy came back, honestly. I'm not sure if that's happening, though...to be honest, I doubt a new FE character will make an appearance, unless of course Nintendo is working on a new FE game and they want to promote the lord of that game...but who knows if that'll happen.

Anyways, if there is going to be a new FE character, I'd much rather see someone from 4-5 get in than someone from the GBA era (Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Ephraim or Lyn or Hector get in.) It would be awesome if Leaf or Siegfried or Alm got in, but that's very unlikely.

I don't see why people doubt FE13 would be announced by then. It's been nearly a year since the last FE was released, and, last I heard, work for the new SSB hasn't been started yet.

How would Siegfried get in? Isn't that Ephraim's lance?

Pretty sure Siegfried is the Lord of TU XD

SiegMUND is Ephraim's lance; Shu likely just typo'd Sigurd (Or the translation could go either way, since Siegfried and Sigurd are both actual names)

And I assume work is being done on the next SSB because the Wii-U was just announced, and a new SSB will be released with it.

@ Shu, while I'd love a Jugdral character to get in, IS seems to keep the two games as far away from the West as possible. (They were released on the virtual console for Japan only.) I mean, the most we've seen out of them is a couple of remixed songs in PoR and SD.

And what's up with IS keeping Jugdral from the west anyway? Do they even have a reason for that?

Jugdral is too awesome. The world can't handle it.

I'm pretty sure at E3 it was said that there will be one for the 3DS and Wii-U (awful name...) but that work hadn't been started yet. I also remember seeing interviews about what Sakurai would like to do and him saying things like "Well, work hasn't started yet, but I'd like to..."

Sakurai, in an Iwata asks said he had to finish Kid Icarus first, and he's only been thinking about the game, no code has been written yet.

Although in that same interview he did confirm that it is certainly going to be made, just a matter of when.

@Fitz uhhh I don't think so... I think you got a wrong impression...

I think Micaiah would be an interesting pick. She would be a female character, which is always nice--there are very few female characters (although it IS called Super Smash BROS., so I'm not surprised). She could use her light magic with an AoE kind of moveset and she'd be able to stun people with her light magic and Sothe could be an assist trophy. For her up+B she could do a little twirl boost with her light magic. Her final smash would be a massive light explosion that would stun everyone for 5 seconds after doing decent damage. Etc.
