nice to see another ungruging story writer in spe.
About the idea problem, I can't give you a good idea, BUUUUUT I can give you some good tips about the writing and etablishing of a good story.
First, always write your story in your native language for the mutch nessesary kick in creativity.
Second, choose your audience carefully. Even if your story is well written, if your choosen audience doesn't care about it at all, you'll don't have enough motivation for contineuing your story. For example, american geeks are surpriseing a very bad audience due the fact, that their cultural influrence is mostly based of picture based storys like comics and cartoons. This fact makes them as a as mutch good audience as well, medival peasents who coudn't read at all, but understood easily the window pictures on the churches. You hopefully know what I mean, right?
btw. Good luck. You'll need it.

Really wanna try writing a novel. Been juggling around ideas like a historical fiction, social satire, neo-classic fantasy type stuff. Any ideas? |
Haha, yes, audience is undoubtedly important. I'm hoping that the fiction fan cults jump in on my exact specs, but I'm trying to get a sense of what they want. And I'm starting to think maybe something new, early American medieval super society mayhaps? Time will tell if I can get a good story board down.

IMO that would appeal to a greater audience if someone could pull it off. lots of people despise Old English/Shakespearean lingo.

Another way to look at it could be mixing genres and times together. Eg, a medieval novel that uses modern speech/slang. IMO that would appeal to a greater audience if someone could pull it off. lots of people despise Old English/Shakespearean lingo. |
Ha, the old shakespeare was out of the question. Can't stand that myself.
