Discuss, here.
Or just update your progress.

I'm finding the rumours a bit funny sometimes. I won the Championship with Reading, and all of a sudden I'm linked to Bayern, Juventus and Brazil by the media.

2nd season started, got some youth in, however, they're all strikers, which I have enough of, so loaning. Also hate my initial wage budget sooo much.

I have a file with Reading where I won the championship in the first season as well.

I remember for the initial season I blew my whole budget on 4 players from the French league. Mounir Obbadi, Eloge Enza Yammisi, Laurent Agouazi and Ousmane Dabo. Total of 1.3m

In the first season it was amazing, we had the easiest run to the league cup final ever, and then in the league cup final we played Aresenal and beat them 1-0 thanks to a goal from a corner. Made me fall in love with Khizanishvili!

Second season my big signings were David Wheater for 4M who ran the defence and Charlie Adam for 1.5m who ran the midfield.

What tactic are you using? For Reading I made the pitch as wide as possible and played 4-5-1, utilising Kebe's and McAnuff's pace. Played mostly on the counter.
Shane Long played really well as a deep lying forward as the 1 up front.

And if things were getting hairy, just send on Church/Hunt for a midfielder and hoof the ball up haha.

At the end of the second season Sampdoria came in for me, so I accepted and then... never played the files again, I think I got bored haha

Haha, yeah, on my first file, I got promoted, then won league cup and finished 5th second season, miraculously. Then City came in for me and I got bored. Bought Douglas Costa for Reading first though.

I'm playing a 433 and a 451, mainly a 433.

Sold McAnuff first season (I'm not amazingly keen on him irl.). Kebe, Long, Church played up top in the 433, and they lead championship scoring by January.

Lyon and AC came in for Kebe, I had to sell him, or risk him whinging and demanding a transfer request for less, which happened with Mills within 2 days of starting the save. It did allow me to pick up a few transfer listed midfielders, and a bargain left back. Oh, and Zacharie Boucher, who could be a quality keeper.

I used the cash on Wickham for the future, and Clyne at end-season. Long/Wickham/Church is alright, missing the pace a bit though.

This season I bought Insua for 3m, Chris Wood for 3, Pacheco for 2m, Fleck for 2m, Holden for 4-5m. Pacheco is back out on loan, along with Hunt for salary dumping and too many strikers.

I think I can survive relegation this year, probably mid-table.

Nice job, I started the metropolitan man challenge where you need to win the champions league with teams from large metropolitan areas (Paris, London, St.Petersburg, Moscoz, Istanbul, Athens and forget the last one.)

Started with Paris FC in the National and am currently in my 4th season and am 10th in Ligue 1 with 12 games played.

Not doing too badly...

Yeah I remember that, Kebe/McAnuff would always winge and winge about wanting to leave, but no one ever came in for them.

I got Jermaine Beckford for free of everton during january, scored a hat trick against WOlves and then did nothing, sold him for a million after that.

The Reading file though was before I knew how to scout properly, how training worked, how the "over 48 months" payment method is SOOOOOOOO good etc etc haha

I'll post some stuff about Paris FC soon. What I've learned is scout brazil/Argentina all the time, so many good regens come out of there. I think coz I'm in France the work permit thing is a lot more leanient

Yeah, they do, and France has a much easier work permit than England, where you can hardly sign anyone. I couldn't even sign Gyan from Sunderland. Spain has no work permit as far as I know.

And yeah, 48 month payment is great. I'm not sure how much you can promise compared to what you have though. Next season, Neymar on 48 month payments. And a promise of a £0 relegation release clause to cheapen the wages.

Yeah it's great because I have an amazing young brazilian striker joining in the summer for 2M, hope to sell him on quickly because I'm a good bit over the wage budget and the club is haemorraging money at the moment.

I need cash from somewhere to vastly improve our facilities... the training facilities are only at 5 blue stars.

You have to pay a first installment of the 48 months immediately. so if you say pay 5M over 48 months you have to pay

5,000,000/48 up front immediately, then the rest over the proceeding months.

In the clauses screen I have 16 clubs I owe money to because of 48 months haha

Haha, nice.

Yeah, that would make sense.

And yeah, I'm spending way too much on wages. I blame the 'oh I played 2 games well, 10k more a week or I go' system. And the oddity of Man City players on the list still expecting 50k+ a week under rotation.

Reading had a 5 star training facility to start, I was pretty surprised.

France just can't deal with my sexy 4-3-1-2 tongue.gif

Been there 4 years now, Champions League by 2020 is still perfectly viable.

Also manager of Nigeria, which I hated at the start, we were crap, now the team has clicked and we're going to the world cup.

Need to stop playing though, I have exams tuesday week haha

Yeah, it does get in the way of revision..

Just went 4-2-3-1 against Arsenal...4-1. James O'Shea went godly. Shame I let one in in the 82nd. I bought because of how he cut me up on my last save, good to see it's still working.

I'd take a screenshot, but can't find out how on this game.

Hold down Alt and then press F9. It should appear in a "screenshots" folder in the FM2011 folder.

4-1 eh? Arsenal are usually godly on FM, what happened haha?

Is this with Reading? Yeah, James O'shea single handedly got Ireland to the 2014 world cup in my save. (As lon as were thinking of the same james o'shea haha)

Hmm, still can't get it to work. Maybe I'll just upload the highlights in a bit.

Basically, 1 rebound goal, and a semi rebound, lucky. Awful defending by Arsenal gave me a clear cross and a pass through the whole back line.

The James O'Shea is the one who starts at Birmingham. His stats are nothing impressive..but he's scored 5 in the last 3 he played.

Steam downloaded.

Eh, it says f12, but nothing working. Shame.

Yeah, O'Shea is pretty effective at cutting in. Or, as I've found out, cutting out as a striker and crossing in.

Sigh... I hate playing Marseille et al the big teams in france.
I just hate seeing the possesion bar so far over onto your side haha.

I do however love the French Cup where you play non-league sides with mostly greyed out players for the first 2-3 rounds...

Just found another great regen, It's great being Nigerian manager, you find great players haha, 200k bid over 48 months later and he's mine!

Haha, bloody work permits in the uk...

Yeah, the big teams are normally like that, possesion bar all the way over, constant corners, and them having at least 10 more shots.

I loaned Pacheco out, he's destroying league 1, but all of his goals (7 in 10) appear to be 'audacious lobs'. I hope this works n the prem next time.

At Paris I don't have any reserves at all, so the youth team play there as well, and since we only built a youth academy last year theres not a single good young player coming through...

I do have 2 feeder clubs but none of my players want to go on loan there!

Is Pacheco any good in FM? He storms it up in the reserves and Spanish under 19s but in the game he just seems to end up at League 2 teams and such.

I flicked through my squad and turns out theres only 1 player at the club in 2014 who was at the club when i joined in 2010, talk about transfer wheeling and dealing!

His potential is 4-4.5 to start I think, but with Liverpool he hardly plays most saves, which is a problem. Never gets loaned either. The one time I loaned him out he started playing for Liverpool fairly well, but eh. It's his position as well, he's in the middle of amc/st, and not really superb at either so far. I'll probably try him out next season in the prem, but he'll end up going to a championship side on loan again most likely.

Haha, it's not even chop and change, that, it's slice and dice. Harry Redknapp is jealous tongue.gif

Well it's not my fault really, 2 promotions in 3 years, a bunch of the players each time just couldn't handle the step up!

And I'm fairly certain this player is going to be gone soon as well, he's just not very good at this level, he scored 16 goals last year, 12 of which came in the month of december and he hasn't been the same since

What is really annoying is when the board accepts a deal on your behalf, like a 1M deal or whatever. Lost some great players down through my saves because of that!
