Okay umm thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.

I am following this tutorial to attempt to insert this map: user posted image into the prologue of FE7. But every time I try this I end up with rather glitchy results: user posted image

I have attempted this several times and it just will not work properly. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it very much. Thank you for your time.

Did you change the tile sets to match the one of your map in Nightmare?

Is the size right (when you used MAR Array Inserter)? How about the offset--did you repoint the map using the Chapter Data Editor? (this is most likely the problem)

The tileset I used was 1C1D331F which in nightmare turned into Fields 1, Fields 2, Fields: Darker; suitable for rain, and Fields.

I exported it as an MAR, I inserted it with the MAR array inserter, the tile size is 16x16, the map size is 15x10. The offset is 01000000 and I added 8 like the tutorial said to do when putting it into the event editor.

Since it's past the 16 MB mark, it would be 0x9000000 in the module.

happy.gif Thank you everyone I'll see if I can get it to work when I'm done babysitting. Also I hate to bother you again but I have to ask, is it possible to get the map sprite of a male priest in fe7? I got the battle sprite working but the map sprite never works properly. Thank you again for your time.

Tried again, same results, looked up markyjoe's tutorial again, followed it to the letter same results.... about to give up on inserting maps at this point sleep.gif

If I uploaded the MAR file would someone be willing to see if it works for them? I have no idea why it won't work for me...

My guess would be that you aren't repointing correctly. Use FE7 Event References module and make sure you change Prologue Map:

Hey, don't over do it, or you'll burn yourself out and you won't want to hack.

Send us the FMP and I'll use a test ROM and insert over the prologue and see if it works. If it doesn't, it means something with the map is wrong. If it does, it means you did something in the process wrong, and I'll send you a patch so you can compare the changes I made to the clean ROM to the ones you made to your hack's ROM.

Thanks, well at least now I know the map is fine. I'll give it another go and see if it works.

Sorry for double posting but the edit button isn't responding, odd.

-__- well I tried again with a clean rom and I got the exact same results. I don't know what the heck I'm doing wrong, it just absolutely refuses to change the map.

Copy my settings exactly.

Go open MAR Array inserter ONLY. Put your map at offset 1000000. Run.

Now open it in Nightmare. Open the Chapter Data Editor. Copy my settings exactly on the screenshot. Then go on the Event Table References. "Prologue Map" and put "0x9000000". File, Apply Changes, then Save ROM. Enjoy.
