Having trouble trying to make an FE10 Mia portrait (I'm not very skilled in spriting, but I tried my best before I came here for help >_>. Oh and, its for a hack). Could someone make one for me? I don't mind if its just a recolored splice, as long as its generally recognizable and reasonably nice-looking (along with the 16 color limit and all).

As for other questions, is it true that you have to use specific colors or else it won't be GBA-friendly and won't work? If so, are these colors okay (as in, do they function at all):

(the last blue color is the background)
I don't mind if the colors stand out too much or anything; just wondering if they will work at all.

Is there any way to (easily) replace all pixels of a specific color with another specific color? One of the reasons why I don't like making portraits myself is because I squint at the screen and recolor every pixel manually on MSPaint. >_>

Does anyone have the enemy Mamkute battle sprites (like Yahn's) from FE6? I can't find them anywhere. Also can't find the FE7 enemy Mamkute battle sprites (or are they the same? I don't remember).

Well, luckily for you there is a MUCH MUCH easier way.

In paint, right click the colour you want and left click the colour you want to replace. Then with the eraser hold down the right mouse button and it replaces the left click colour with the right click colour. Sometimes there is magical protection on some pixels and it doesn't quite get em all for a reason i have yet to understand, but this can be solved by pasting the colours and mug into a new paint window and recolouring it in that window.

Well, if I were you I'd scrap the 6 greys for greens and blue's.

And change the black to the outline colour.

And that does look quite dark for an outline, try looking at an FE8 mug, they have pretty dark outlines, but the colour is actually quite light.

All colors used in sprites that are going to be inserted into a ROM (at the very least for Fire Emblem, though I'm sure that it holds for a fair amount of the other GBA titles as well) must have RGB values that are multiples of 8s. So (10, 0, 0) would not work as a color; however, (8, 0, 0) would work as an acceptable color. Though, if these are colors for a portrait, I advise that you reference the palettes used in the respective game that it will be inserted into. You'll get better color matching that way.

FEPlanet should have the battle sheets for the Mamkute in FE6. There aren't any Mamkutes in FE7, unless you're talking about the Fire Dragon, in which case, FEP should have that too.

Although what LG said is true, I wouldn't worry about it *TOO* much. FEditor Adv, the program used to insert portraits, can convert colors to "proper GBA colors". So just use what makes sense and works best (and preferably colors that don't make the portrait stand out compared to the rest of the game) and you should be fine.

As for actually finding a Mia portrait, IIRC Anonym (person Rey mentioned?) and Bonestorm/Rexstatic (a member on here, on FEND, and on FEU) both have Mia portraits. Anonym is a better spriter IMO (no offense Rex, I like your portraits too) but usually the better spriters are a bit more picky about their sprites being edited or used.

EDIT: Wow! I couldn't find the enemy mamkute, either. I tried looking by name and class. Dang, I thought FEP had most of the GBA ones done...

I couldn't find it here either so you are most likely out of luck, but you *could* try the Spriter's database...

FEditor Adv can only insert portraits, battle animations, spell animations, and edit text. Most people use it for portraits and text with an occasional use for custom or imported battle animations.

For everything else but custom maps and custom events/cutscenes, you use Nightmare or Nightmare 2.0 (Nightmare 2.0 is supposedly better). This is more of a hacking question though, so if you have hacking questions just make a topic in the FE Editing forum, and take a look at the Hacking FAQ in that forum since it answers some frequently asked questions...

Huh, well doesn't that beat all. Guess it just goes to show that FEP continues to become more fail as the days pass. They *had* the sheet at some point and must have lost it, since *I* have a copy of it on my machine. I'll upload it for you (I'll edit the link in to this post).
