I need some constructive criticism on this. It's my very first time making a mug. (Also my very first time posting on this forum.)



If you can't tell I made it by slicing up a few different default characters and editing the pieces a little. Again, I could use some constructive criticism. Thanks.

It's a good start. The red looks a little weird, and the armor needs an outline, but it's your first so you'll get better.

Also, there needs to be shading under the hair on the face. Other than, it looks okay.

P.S. Some shading on the face under the collar as well.

I don't mean it's odd as in a bad choice, I meant it looks too off colored. Look at Hector's cape for a good red to work with Blacks.

Err, the body is tiny and I smell more than one outline color? The little area below the shoulderpad looks barely shaded at all,and shade the bits where the hair meets the head. Other than that, I see no more obvious mistakes.Oh, and good job, since it's only your first.

And the body is meant to be somewhat small, it's supposed to be a child. Not like a child-child, though. Sort of a mature gifted evil child. If that makes sense.

I think the body is fine for size, but could maybe be a little broader.

Also there needs to be an outline between the cape and collar and along the side of the shoulder pad. The outline should be the same colour as the outline around the hair.

The collar seems to just sorta stick out, so i think it needs to be take closer to the face a little and perhaps adding in a darker shade above it in front of the hair so i looks like the collar goes all the way around the head.
(I'm not quite sure how to explain that better)

It looks pretty good for your first mug.

Usually, red and black go fantastic together, but when it comes to mugs black is your enemy.( Not a black person, black color, not racist, lol.) And I agree with Zeldiac Flame, the body needs to be more bulky.

Not too bad, it's actually not bad at all compared to MANY sprites. There isn't anything unappealing about it, at the very least, but since it's a first sprite it isn't exceptional. Get my drift?

I'd try adding more contrast between the color shades, see how it looks and if it improves it than go with it, if not then keep the shades as they are.

In addition, I notice that you don't show that the scarf isn't part of the clothing, put a black border around the top. Also, you don't have a border around the whole mug, so you probably want to add that too.

Eh, it looked like you already had an outline but the outline color was too light so no one could see it. Your current outline is too dark. Use either the FE7 or FE8 outline color (get a portrait and "steal" the outline color it uses with the eyedropper).

I think it looks like a solid portrait now. You've been working on this one for a while, so maybe you can go on to some other ones so you can get more experience working with different parts.

If you still want more critique on this one though, I'm sure somebody can give you some.

I think the collar still looks a Liiiiiitle weird (Like it's too flat to me, but that's personal opinion), but it still looks like an awesome portrait.

Alright. Feel free to make an actual gallery once you're ready, since this topic is just for your "very first mug". Btw, props to you for taking the critique and improving it and not whining or something. It's not easy work IMO.
