Yeah. I've done this before, so I know it works. I'm getting an error that's really bothersome, and I don't know of a way to fix it. This is one of the few instances where google dosen't help...
This is the error.
"General file transfer error. Please check your Target location and try again.
Error Number: -1
Related File: C:\Westwood\REDALERT\REDALERT.mix"
This happens about 26% through installation.
Immediately after the error message pops up, another one pops up saying:
"Setup could not be completed due to errors. Please clear up the causes of the errors and try again"
And then the installation closes.

Hah... I've done this before...
On the "Setup" file in the CD...
Go to compatibility mode "Windows 95" or whatever... check ALL the boxes for compatibility... that's all I did and it worked for RA95 and the Counterstrike and Aftermath Expansions...

It didn't work, I checked every box after setting the setup.exe file in the CD and set the compatibility mode to Windows 95...same thing happened.

Your comp just fails. What is it if its for Win 95? Must be old.

Sure it is not the installer? A -1 flaw?
...-1 could mean missing file, I think. Not sure, obviously, but seems like a nice guess. Try getting a new copy of the installer for your Red Alert game.

Are you sure the target location actually exists? Some programs don't like it if the target doesn't exist. Make sure the folder REDALERT actually exists.
Also check the compatibility, you may have to apply the changes you make to compatibility by hitting "apply" and possibly entering the password of an administrative account and crap...
Windows XP does tend to have problems with compatibility... but Vista isn't much better >_>

Okay guys, I fixed the error. I had another copy of the game ay my grandmother's house, and I grabbed it when on the way home. I used that CD and installed it, and the error didn't show up when installing. I got it to work.
