I've never played any of the FE from 1-5. Are they really good? If so which one was the best?

Yeah, I really like them, and, in some aspects, they are better than the newer ones.
I've played all of them at least once, and I like FE3 the best, just something about the music and retro graphics...
FE4 is a fan-favorite in Japan, FE5 is for hardcore players, FE2 is the basis of FE8, and FE1 is, well, the original.

2-5 are all superb, while 1 was remade into 3 and 11, so there isn't a point really to playing it.
I like 2 a lot because of how unique it was, then again, 2-5 all had unique features.

I just go them. To be honest, they start out really boring. But like everyone says, they're pretty damn good. Except FE 1 (imagine FE:DS with horrid graphics).

I could have sworn I posted here before. The classics are good in there own since 2 was unique with the villagers, 3 combined the first one with a continued story that wasn't to bad, 4 Genealogy of the Holy War one of the greatest games of the series, and 5 for it's innovations that help set up the GBA games and other things.
