Okay... You know how awesome MageKnight, Rexstatic, Ravier (Sorry, dunno how to do the "backwards R", and dunno what you changed your name to now..), The Blind Archer, and all the other people make awesome CUSTOM mugs right?

I don't want to do a splice for me... yet I don't think I'm ready (if at all) for a full custom mug...

I know for a fact I suck at hair... so I took an FE8 Civilian Boy's hair that I think looks the most like mine...

Anyway... first step is the lineart stage right?

Like how TBA did his Ike mug?



Okay... I started about 20 minutes ago... about 1AM my time...

As I update my attempts to make this mug... I command all of you... with your civic duty to DESTROY my attempts with criticism until I learn how to sprite...

Edit: and for starters... I think the little "jacket thing" dangling on the right is a little too far out... right?

Ok, everything turns out smaller when you shade it so the head needs to be a lot bigger, and do all of the lineart before you start shading, and are you using a ref?

Well... if you count the "civilian boy" I took the hair from as a ref...

Also size references help a lot, Dei uses them. But this is real good for a first custom mug! Keep it up!

Meh... I think it looks a little "bulky"...

How come I only do my spriting starting at 12AM Pacific time? XD

I haven't beaten Sacred Stones yet... so I don't know his name... but I'm using Joshua's Teacher (I only saw a Youtube vid of the convo between the student and the teacher) as a reference for the clothing... and I just realized I suck at it ._.

Maybe I should just do a splice? LOL

I am telling you, the head is going to be the size of a baby's when you shade it.

Hair: The hair is ok, but if the ends of your hair were that spread out, you would call it bed head.

Ears: short and wide, like a baby monkey. taller and a tad thinner and your on spot.

Eyes: the eyes are huge, and crazily slanted down, like some crazed Japanese man with angry beetlejuice bug eyes.

Eyebrows: Trust me on this and just take them out. Between shading for the hairline and eyes, it'll only take a few pixels of dark color to prove that they're there.

Nose: the nose is ok, but it's sharp enough to cut glass

Neck: does not exist. You're either trying to tell me his heads floating on that collar, or his neck is everything between the collars, and either way youre sadly mistaken. No ones neck is that chunky.
Collar: is that Dracula? I suppose this is acceptable if you really want the collar to be that big, but I'm guessing you want it more like a polo shirt popped out, and for that you need to seriously downsize.

Mouth: one line will do. After that a single pixel up of down combined with the length of the line as well as if put that pixel so it's diagonal to the last pixel on the line or right above it will all play a part in what his mouth is doing. Way it is now, one half is up and half down, which is usually impossible.

Body: you said he was supposed to be joshuas teacher? Like a swordsman? Ok swordsmen don't like muscles that big. Compare the body of any swordsman mug with that of a fighter and notice the difference.

Cllothes: bland. I don't think I've ever seen any clothes so smooth, it's like he's 2D.

If you're just starting off, it's ok to dream big, but this may not be exactly around your skill level. You may want to start with splicing, until you get a feel for shading and part-time customing, before you get into full-time customing from scratch.

Since Hughes destroyed it this time around, I'll wait, but one major thing you NEED to do when creating the original outline... is make everything proportional. If you don't, you'll be forced to go back and completely revamp tons of shit, trust me.

And if you didn't infer by now, yes I have those "Asian Eyes" ._.

Again... DESTROY... you must destory my craptastic works so that I may someday make a portrait somewhat good enough to be used in the FER hack... (And eventually my personal one...)

Blazer, do you agree with BloodFalcon's comment about the small head?

Yes, I stole the little red fold thingy from Joshua's teacher and mirrored it to fit the battle sprite... meh...

I absolutely have no imagination about what how the designs on the clothes should be... I'm thinking of keeping it to the collar and that one design on the front that I stole from the FE8 swordplay teacher...

I'm just thinking of taking what I have so far... do my best with it... and let someone I can find who is a better spriter touch it up for me...

The Ike is a good start but the other guy...well, on his
head and his shoulders, our left is a bit more...massive
than the right.
