OOC Discussion Thread

The continent of Midland. To the North, the mountains, inhabited by Dwarves and the orcs, these two groups, constantly make war with each other. To the East, the desert, a place where none dare enter, fierce creatures and nomadic races reside there. In truth, it is a very isolated place. To the south, the forest, home of the elves and other forest dwelling creatures. And finally, to the west, the great bay, a docking point and place for trade. Allegedly, there are water dwelling races that reside deep in the bay that do not interact with the mainland. And in the middle, a large complex city, within it, a large castle, governed by the king of Midland, well, the king of the "civilized" areas at least.



Recently, there appears to have been a disturbance, something evil seems to have awakened within the mountainous region of midland. The king, having felt a strange disturbance, has sent for the most experienced warriors through out the land.



As the king sits on his thrown, waiting, he sees a group of five people approaching. A blad green orc wearing full plate, a very youthful looking brown haired bard, A blad Half elf wearing animal hide armor with a bow strapped to his back. A large green warforged with what appears to be animal like armor pieces on his body, and then with them, a blonde haired women, an elf, clearly a mage from the looks of things.


"Greetings adventurers, you have made it on time, I cannot say the same for my aid. You must forgive him, he hates being seen in public, and for good reason. Anyway, I assume you know why you are all here. There is evil a foot, in the mountains. Something seems to have been awakened, what it is exactly, I cannot say. From what i've been told, you are the most elite adventurers in the land." He stopped to catch his breath, the king was old, he had a long white beard and stood about 6,5, about 6 feet tall when sitting. He spoke in a british like accent.


"I would like you to take them time to know each other, then my assitant, assuming he does arrive, will lead you to the dwarven capital, where they will brief you further about what has been occuring."

[Holy Kensai]

The "large green warforged with what appears to be animal like armor pieces on his body" stood unmoving. Looking at the King, he felt something towards the man. Hate isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind. Ignoring it to his war-trained senses, he tried to listen.The more and more he listened, the more and more he realized there was no mention of money yet. Growing impatient, as a warforged is only patient during battle, he noticed the king had stopped talking, as if he wanted the group to introduce themselves. Remaining quiet, he stared forward, wondering who would be the first to try to talk to him.

Seraph looked around quickly for somewhere to sit down but to his dismay found none.
He looked up at the king and wondered to himself

<how is he still alive>

He looked at the other 4 people that were standing next to him. He sized each one up. He saw a huge green warforged that looked extremely threatening, but probably dimwitted.

<Perfect, I can probably use him to further my goals>
He saw a huge bald ogre who was also towering above him, This made him feel secure
<With these two near me I won't have to lift a finger>
He stared at one of the two elves in the room, the male and then stopped as he realised the king was talking. He started to listen but then decided he didn't care. He could dissapear if the job didn't suit him.

Once the king stopped talking, Seraph went over and sat on the floor with his back against the wall. He took out his simple instrument which he cherished and began to polish it

The orc crossed his arms and waited impaitently. The bard simply went off to the side and started playing his instrument, he sized everyone up and he knew it. The warforged displayed no emotion, everyone else listened intentivly.

"My king, will there be payment. Surely you can't expect me to associate with those....."Dwarves." Without some sort of pay." He said. He didn't like the dwarves, and he didn't like him.

"Yes of course." The king spoke up. "There will be a good payment for you, don't you fret."

Seraph stopped polishing his instrument after he heard the king talk about money.

<Of course we're getting paid, theres no way I would work for free>

He finished polishing his instrument and then stuck back into its pouch on his sash.
He looked at the two elves, they were both very mysterious, he knew nothing about elves.

<They could be trouble>

He decided that if they wanted to talk to him they would have to start the conversation. He leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes in mock sleep

Gildor, getting sick of listening to the king, went over the the sleeping one.

(he could be help to me)

"What is your name sleeping one? I am Gildor. I am a archer. What would you be doing on this quest?"

Seraph had only been feigning sleep but not even he had noticed the silent-footed elf appear beside him. He lifted his head to look at the elf.

"I am on this quest for personal gain and that alone. My name is Seraph and I am a wandering Bard who roams from land to land."

Seraph took out his instrument and showed it to him,
"this is my only weapon, think of it what you will but it is my treasure. What would be your reasoning for being on this quest? and what is your name" Seraph asked him

Seraph smiled at him and just said

"Money is the personal gain, you think being a bard pays well?"
Seraph got up looked around. When was the aid going to arrive. He looked around the room again, some of the people hadn't moved and weren't talking, they were waiting like he was.

"Do you know that other el?f" Seraph asked to Gildor

Gildor looked at the other elf and looked back at Seraph and said

"No, I don't think I have ever seen her before. She seem like a smart person, but who knows?"

Alark was getting slightly angry from his impatience. He wanted his task, for warforged take much pride in doing their tasks swiftly and greatly. Looking around, surprising and scaring a near-by guard, Alark looked at the rest of the party. He immediately liked the Orc, as he was obviously violent. He felt disgust for the human, he was obviously a deceitful greedy fellow, who was also quite small. Next his gaze went to the human? Elf? ... Thing talking to the human... Moving on his gaze went to the Elf, he felt some admiration for hie intelligence, not many warforged grew to be as smart as she looked. Snapping his head back forward, he studied the king, and fantasized about what he'd like to do with his gladius.

Seraph could see the giant War-forged losing its temper. He walked over to it leaving the elf behind.

"So who are you?" Seraph asked "And how did you get roped into this job"
He looked up into it's eyes and could see only bloodlust. He was intrigued, what drove this machine to such anger

The warforged didn't respond immediately, as he didn't think the human was talking to him. Hearing silence he turned and saw the human looking expectantly at him. "Alark Mohair." He replied, "Money. Sword. You little pipsqueak?"Alark grinned evilly, staring into the human's eyes.

"I lack no hair? Wait what, that's your name" Said Seraph intentionally trying to annoy him.
"We have the same reasons for this quest, as you can see I lack any weapons to fight, so if you protect me I will aid you with song"

He looked up into Alarks eyes and saw a huge grin on his face.

<Is this supposed to intimidate me?> Seraph thought.
He grinned back at this machine-beast

Alark took the humans hand and shook it really friendly, a bit too friendly for a human's hand, but only enough to hurt it. "A. Lark. Mo. Hair." The warforged said, and grinned bigger. Looking at the pitiful human, he pitied him. "Must suck to die within forty years."

Seraph pulled his hand away and winced in pain. Maybe it was a bad idea to mess with this guy. He grinned at him again and walked towards the wall.

He sat down and decided to wait till they were given they're orders.
He decided to write a ballod while he waited.

Aurora waited patiently for the King to finish his speech, listening to every word he said, while forming a plan in her mind, how many supplies would she need? Would they need a letter of recommendation? The king mentioned something vague about his adviser, there were stories about the adviser, and not very pleasant ones at that. She shrugged off any misgivings she had, any fear would only hinder her on this quest. She curtsied before the king. "I shall work to the best of my abilities in order to protect all our peoples from this threat which has been sensed throughout the land"

Aurora then turned to introduce herself to the others, it appeared that they had all introduced themselves to each other. She walked over to the half-elf, she knew he wasn't a full elf, it was a common thing that all elves noticed, though she felt like she would be most comfortable around him. "Hello" she said sweetly with a smile. "I am Aurora it will be a pleasure to work with you"

Then the aid finally came out, he was dressed in all black robes and wore the hood up and then removed it, revealing a hidious squid like face. He looked at the half elf with a horrible hateful stare and then at the king. The kind nodded in apporval and then the mind flayer extended his hand. The half elf attempted to draw his bow and arrow but then stopped, but to no avail. He began to approach the Illithid. It took him mere seconds to reach the being, then he grabbed him and then went into the back. There was a loud sickening sound and then a scream.

The Illithid came out, but without the half elf.

"Pardon the rudeness guest. However, that half elf had a bit of a record. A very shady individual, we believed him to be responsible for various murders that had taken place in the previous month, in fact, we were sure of it. Evidence you know. ah yes, anyway, shall we get going. We are all assembled. We can get to know each other on the way there

The Illithid spoke telepathically, such a creature joining them, such a creature aiding the king. Either their was trust or there was definently something a miss.

Aurora gasped, she could not believe that the person she was the most comfortable with was a murderer. She also couldn't believe that the King's adviser was such a creature, the rumours were true, and not simply old wives tales. She didn't reveal any fear and kept her mind focused on magical properties, slightly worried that the mind flayer would know her fears. "Having you on our side shall greatly aid us all" she said with an upbeat tone.

Seraph looked calmly at the beast in front of him. He did not care for the elf who was dead, he had known him for abut five minutes.
He knew the beast could be a problem seeing as he didn't even know what it was.

<If any trouble does happen I'll let the two huge warriors deal with it>
He stood up and walked to where the others were standing.

"Yes, so now your aid is here, can we please leave. Waiting around is quite intrepidly boring" Said Seraph
