Mittens needs to tell the truth and stick to one issue. Oh, and then there's the fact that he doesn't have a personality, and makes up all his facts. Obama isn't perfect, but he's sure a hell of a lot better than Mittens. Also, most of the reasons why many Americans hate Obama, are based on things that he doesn't control/ biased news like Fox (MSNBC isn't unbiased, but liberals don't have all these crazy ideas about Romney, like the conservatives do about Obama). I'm glad he pulled the victory (unofficially).

There are some legitimate criticisms of Obama. His plan with ethanol is pretty bad. I could go into the details of the poor optics of that if you want (CO2/J produced, the fact that it's openly encouraging solving energy over solving starvation), but I think the point is that there are some things he's done wrong.

That being said, there are just as many, if not more, problems with Romney in my mind.

Well energy is an issue here. Starvation isn't. Its an issue in 3rd world countries. We're broke as hell, its not our responsibility to feed the entire world. I'm not saying I don't care, but honestly, we're not the worlds babysitter, and its time to stop acting like it.

The concern, of course, is the concept that there are better things to spend the food source on. Alberta recently had a tainted beef scare and a similar optics problem occurred. An opposition leader suggested we heat the beef to well done (killing the existent strains, of there) and serve it to down on their luck Albertans as food. A perfectly sane thing to do logically, as there's no harm in the beef if it's fully cooked, but political suicide due to the juxtaposition of poorer people and possibly tainted food. Similarly, the ingredients used to make ethanol are pretty healthy, so sale of that as food may be a better alternative. Shelters could use it instead. Simple concept and semi-poor optics here.

A big one from both oil patch supporters and green parties is that ethanol is not a real "green" fuel. It's dirty (one of the lowest energy/CO2 emissions), detracts money from real programs, and has only been chosen because it's psuedo-renewable and can fit our current systems. Real support for cleaner fuels should be either real natural gasses as a stepping stone (cleanest burning for energy/CO2 and readily available to tap into), nuclear power (which I ultimately see as the next major energy source0, or cleaner systems (such as electric cars, which have better well to wheels fuel efficiency than our gasoline, or even further refinement).

I'm not too keen on ethanol either. From a mechanic's perspective its hell on your fuel pump and engine. *shrugs* Oh well what can you do, its in all our fuel these days.

But is ethanol ever brought up? Not that I know of. Most often you hear about how he's doubled the debt, and ****ed the economy, and how he's caused unemployment to sky rocket. If people bothered to look this up, they'd see that it's not as true as they'd have you think.

Yea. I believe that since his inaguration, there's been over 5 million new jobs made. The housing market is improving. The vehicle industry has recovered. He may not have fixed it 100%, but its getting there. But no president will ever fix something in 4 years.

Irony is, even tho Romney criticised Obama for not fixing it in 4 years, he said his own plan would fix it in 10.

Romney briefly brought it up during the 2nd debate (I think) when saying (incorrectly) that Obama's green plans went belly up.

This is more of an issue that I've heard spoken of privately. It's a legitimate criticism of Obama in a similar sense of how Romney's bumblings in Israel are not really brought up by the politicians, but spoken of privately.

One thing about these debates that caught my eye is that we have the stereotypical "lies, damn lies, and statistics" attacks. The unemployment number got trotted around by both candidates more often than a prized horse. Logic and data dictate that the real factors at play were the number of frustrated unemployed and the number of people re-entering the jobs market. Of course, candidates use whatever makes them look better, am I right?

Just a friendly warning to be kind and respect others in general smile.gif

And I'll just say that I didn't vote for president but I did vote for other things like senators and state issues. I don't want to say I really supported either but of the two I suppose I'd consider Obama the "lesser of two evils". And sadly all the other candidates are just there to try to steal away a small amount of popular votes from the two main parties sleep.gif (I'd rofl if they somehow stole electoral votes XD).

Well. Obama won. I can't say I just LOVED either of the two candidates. But in my humble opinion, Romney was the better of the two evils. I don't like the whole party system either.

Really though, the big winner was Nate Silver, who went 49 for 49 in his state projections (with Florida's results not out yet and all). Quieted a lot of critics of his mathematical approach.

Facebook and YouTube comments are my guilty pleasures. So much stupidity condensed into one great comedy read.

Though, going by my feeds, you'd think people were more interested in memes than the actual issues at hand.
