I ended up pairing Tharja with Heavy weapons guy Gregor. Passed on Lifetaker from Tharja and Wrath from Gregory (after I made him a Zerker). Noire got Prescience as an Archer and I'm a bit confused about this skill. Reclassed Noire into a Myrm and picked up +10 avoid and Vantage.

So here's my question, does Prescience work off of Vantage?
Prescience: Grants hit/avoid +15 when the unit initiates an attack. Technically with Vantage you're not

Also looking back, I should've passed on Vengance from Tharja instead. Oh well. Guess I'll just pick it up later by making Noire a Sorceror.

Wrath, Vantage, Vengence combo appears quite strong, but I can't think of two other skills to fit with them.

Noire has the Mercenary, Myrmidon, and Troubadour branches thanks to Gregor, while she gets Dark Mage, Knight and Archer branches from her mom. Thinking I'd stick with Lifetaker and wrap up with Sol from Hero? Not sure. Thoughts?

Well, not that i've actually seen vantage myself. But I think "initiates attack" means that it has to be in your phase and not the opponent.

Get Pavise (General lv15) and Axe Breaker (Hero lv15). They help a lot with livability.

I like me a Vantage/Vengance/Lifetaker combo, especially on magic users. Finish it off with survivability skills, such as Pavise or Breakers, or Galeforce if available (which it sadly isn't here, but oh well) and you have a unit who always hits first for good damage with Vengance and can heal if needed on your turn.

Vantage, Wrath, Vengeance, and any of the advanced dark spells are a deadly combination. Mostly a normal-hard mode trick because of the fact you need to kill in one or two attacks or else risk dying, but it's absolutely hilarious seeing your critical in the 80-90% region. Much more fun than Pavise/Aegis/Renewal/Miracle (or Sol)/Limit Breaker

well with Limit Breaker out it feels like you might as well just have 4 skills and then Limit Breaker, I mean it's that good lol

Anyhow I think it's as you say, with Prescience you need to be the one to initiate meaning it has to be your phase meaning it wouldn't activate with vantage. The calculations are done beforehand too so... yeah, I don't think it'll activate. Not sure, but I doubt it.

Also isn't his name Gregor or was that my imagination? *scratches head*

I've looked into Limit Breaker and I'd classify it under the same category of Galeforce. It's way too good not to have in single player mode. Obviously Galeforce falls off at higher levels because you won't be insta gibbing everyone to proc the skill activation. I'm trying to come up with the best parent pairings in order of skills without any DLC content. Considering Awakening's DLC kind of breaks the game in half in terms of free money/exp etc. Limit Break would probably be a good replacement for Galeforce at higher difficulty levels (assuming DLC).

So that would mean Vantage works off Prescience's cousin, Patience. Hrmmm.

Also I meant to type his proper name Gregor but I accidentally added a "y" at the end by mistake, thanks for catching that.

Yeah Nosferatu tank Sorceror looks really strong, especially with Vantage. You'll always attack first, have higher crit chance and damage. Paired with lifesteal from Nosferatu, your unit's probably never going to die. Also I'm not sure how to feel about Pavise and Aegis. They sound good on paper, but you're relying on the skill activating to save your life. There's no guarentee said skill will activate on the proper enemy attack thus playing savior. The enemy only Lunatic + equivalent is much better as it procs for everything and therefore safe, but again enemy only.

The breaker skills look far safer as you're gaining strong hit and avoid increases simply for engaging the proper enemies. I'd consider these five the best defensive skills. Renewal's also a strong defensive skill but it's moreso for sustained solo missions where you'd be too far away from a healer.

I would have to say to go with Pavise and a breaker skill (I believe your Noire can get axebreaker and tomebreaker) They help a lot with keeping your character alive especially since your current skill set is stronger when you have lower health. Since your skill set is damaged based you need to pile on insurances incase your character gets hit. (I wish Resolve was in this game)

Fair enough, but breaker skills are generally plugs to fix holes in the character design because of the fact they're weapon type specific. For example, if you have a character who's purely sword based, Lancebreaker might be the only skill of that type I take. Generally with 4 slots, you'll find enough skills to fill the rest.

Though having an "all breaker" character is a lot of fun too laugh.gif

Omnibreaker Sorcerers are just stupid. On the offchance that you hit them, they're instantly healed. Ditto goes for Assassins because you just can't hit them, and if you're feeling really sadistic, an Omnibreaker Sniper with Longbows aplenty is unhitable, uncounterable, and classified as cruel and unusual punishment, thus making it unconstitutional in the US. (Until they're surrounded, anyway.)

Can't you just

Beaststone/dragonstone omnibreakers

(though there's also Pavise and Aegis for that...)

I suppose the enemy doesn't have any of those though, meaning it would only ever matter when fighting streetpass people

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

You could, but it wouldn't matter on a Sorcerer.
