Well. There's Pros and Cons of both. The main Con of Different topics is if they don't look through the section, they might be all "YAY THIS HAPPY BIRTHDAY IS FOR ME. OH WAIT. NO IT IS NOT. THEY DON'T LIKE ME. BYE"

I'd go with two. It makes both members (or more) feel special. Most people wouldn't like sharing a birthday topic.
