Okay, so I finally caught up on the One Piece anime, well I am like 3 episodes behind, but I wanted to say something that was on my mind? Normally, when I ask a person this they say Enies Lobby hands down. I was just curious what made that arc so good in terms of storytelling. I just really need someone to explain that to me. You tell me guys, or is there multiple arcs that you though that were simple amazing?

Hmm, Enies Lobby is definitely a good arc. I think people like it a lot because it contains solid character development for Franky and Robin and at the same time having some sick 1v1 battles for each of the crew and all of the having new powers.

My favorite arc is probably the Impel Down arc. I really liked how Luffy had to team up with former enemies to get through and how Magellan was handled really well and made him feel like a threat. It's also one of the few arcs where they don't defeat the big boss of their opposition. It's kind of hard for me to explain why I like this arc a lot. I guess Luffy's desperation and the overall feel of the arc made me enjoy it a lot.

I don't think I have heard someone list Impel Down, that's a cool way to think of it. When I think back on that arc, I realized it was pretty unique. I might have to go back and watch it one day.

lol for once I kinda agree, Impel Down is def a bit of a different choice.

The Water 7/Enies Lobby arcs are great IMO because both the antagonists (especially the CP9 ones you actually see in the first half) and the Straw Hats get some character development--even the ones that have already "had their arcs". Obviously there's the whole Robin drama and Franky is another major character and becomes important too but Nami, Luffy, and Usopp all have to grow, and Zoro and Sanji also have to step up a bit (Zoro has the role of supporting Luffy and making sure he doesn't stray from his path and takes his unwritten position as the "#2" in the crew rather well--for instance, not letting Usopp simply join back, or handling things to some extent when Luffy isn't around, which is ultimately why he also gets a bounty of over 100,000,000 when no one else in the crew does).

I guess the Water 7/Enies Lobby arc (the second part being the "highlight" of sorts as everything before that is somewhat of a build-up) are my favorite but Dressrosa is also starting to turn out to be my favorite. While it's missing a couple things One Piece arcs usually have IMO, it's got a great diverse cast of characters, an awesome antagonist, some great battles and abilities, and a lot of other things going for it. It's a shame some characters had to be taken out of the spotlight for this arc, but overall even if it's dragged on a bit, it's excellent and definitely up there as one of my favorites. We'll see if it manages to beat out the awesomeness and pure emotion behind Enies Lobby (which encompassed the stories of Robin, Franky, and Usopp/the Going Merry all in one, and was a huge step up from before by making every Straw Hat member have a bounty and the crew finally becoming somewhat noteworthy having overcome the strongest Cipher Pol and one of the three major Marine islands or whatever, as well as a buster call)... honestly I don't think it will but it is sort of already tied in my mind for being epic in its own way.

Aside from those two, I really liked the Alabasta arc. We get to see a tiny bit of Ace, one of my favorite characters, and though it starts off slow, it really has a lot of meaning to me. Vivi is also one of my favorite characters in One Piece. Just seeing the toppling of a country like that... the farewell the Straw Hats gave at the end... the whole "small crew saves an entire island and takes out a shichibukai"... again, it's a huge step up from before and I feel like after it's over one can get a sense of just what kind of story One Piece is; it's epic, it's emotional, and sure, sometimes we know the outcome, and there are flaws, but I feel like I can't help but cheer on Luffy and his crew, feel the pain they do, and revel in the peace of victory afterwards, because man it often slips by us due to the way Oda writes the story, but the world of One Piece is actually quite cruel, and it's nice to have heroes who aren't really heroes--no spewing ideals about justice or anything, it's just Luffy helping out his friends and beating up the people who make them cry. In a world dominated by the strong, Luffy follows the rules of the world and overcomes the strong with his own strength.

...

ok this suddenly turned into some kind of nonsensical rant about One Piece

this is what happens when I am low on sleep and I start thinking about how much I love One Piece

Impel Down is probably the only One Piece arc I have fully rewatched. That along with the Amazon Lily arc. All the other arcs I just rewatch one part I really liked. Never the full arc again.

huh, interesting. to be fair though the other arcs are usually super long. Impel Down, at least in my mind (not going to bother doing an episode count), is relatively short in comparison to Enies Lobby or Alabasta. I don't think I've rewatched any full arc, just parts, but idk for sure ._. there's a lot of filler in One Piece (especially lately) so it'd be kinda drawn out and boring/a waste of time, maybe I'd watch the Paced version of One Piece or something. also even if I am to rewatch something I might skip certain parts I don't like or something in which case idk if that counts as rewatching the full arc since I technically skipped parts... so yeah
