@  xcrash1998 : (21 September 2018 - 05:46 PM) I like games that actually reward you for reaching more difficult objectives.
A good example would be the golden ballon in Super Mario Oddisey it more like a trophy and less like an in game side note of what you did.
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:13 AM) but like yeah I get more trophies/achievements in games that I just happened to play more bcuz the game itself was fun or w/e and it's like oh ok i also will get these things just through doing the stuff i wanted to do anyway, that's cool i guess lol
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:08 AM) like they don't rly hurt but they aren't something of particular value, it's kinda like a fancy alert with a title that tells u u did a thing, it's not bad but im not rly one to go out of my way to obtain the validation of a video game through something that can usually just be done via spending enough time/effort on it

(getting to like the top X% of a competitive multiplayer game or smth would be a diff story, but in that case i wouldn't even want an achievement, i feel like just getting there should feel rewarding in itself, so... yeah, lol)
@  Fire Blazer : (17 September 2018 - 07:07 AM) yeah I'm not a trophy/achievement guy lol
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:35 PM) That's just not incentive enough for me, man.
@  acceptance : (13 September 2018 - 10:34 PM) Plus with modern gaming a lot of the time the most you can hope for if you get all the collectibles is a trophy/achievement. Which I suppose is valuable to some people, but it's not gonna add anything to the game whatsoever.
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:58 PM) like yeah sidequests with an actual crafted scenario to them, post-game dungeons that aren't TOO much grinding/rehashed content, etc. are cool
@  Fire Blazer : (12 September 2018 - 05:57 PM) yeah I only like completionist stuff if it's like meaningful content/not super grindy but usually at some point it becomes kind of annoying so meh
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:01 AM) Gotta love unforgivingly difficult super bosses. (Looking at you, Lingering Will.)
@  acceptance : (11 September 2018 - 01:00 AM) I cannot do the whole collectible thing. It always feel so tedious. Sidequests and EX dungeons are always fun though.
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:56 AM) So thats perfect for me
@  xcrash1998 : (09 September 2018 - 06:55 AM) I am rather obsessed with completing on 100% unless it is completely unreasonable to do so
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:51 AM) if they ever make a sequel/spiritual successor or the like at the very least it should have my attention, haha
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:50 AM) so yeah, great, great game overall, I even bought the expansion and played the heck out of that too because it was so much fun. Think I ended up almost 100%ing it (basically fully explored the map IIRC, not sure I did everything but at the very least I should have gotten pretty close).

and I'm not really a completionist either, so again... just speaks volumes about how fun the game was IMO.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:48 AM) Awesome gameplay, sweet enemies, an overall interesting premise and plot along with some solid writing, even the soundtrack was decent for a Western game, lol... but of course, the VISUALS. whew. the game looks soooo good. couldn't help but take pictures even though I don't usually consider myself that kinda guy, lol. the environments and hyper-realistic look are just so visually appealing I was often kinda mesmerized, similar to how I felt with Xenoblade X.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) I'm surprised to have finally found some other people who have played and liked that game though. I was excited for Horizon: Zero Dawn and got it at launch and ended up basically binging it, IIRC even putting P5 on hold for a bit, because it was just so much fun.
@  Fire Blazer : (03 September 2018 - 04:46 AM) ouch @ potential april fools lol
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:34 AM) Still an excellent game. One of the more interesting stories I've come across in a game, especially an open-world one, and some pretty solid characters and worldbuilding. The gameplay is fun and works really, really well in the setting, too.
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:31 AM) Although that article is from April 1st and my google searches are not revealing any other evidence of a PC release...
@  Rujio : (02 September 2018 - 09:29 AM) Ah yes! I just played that game this past summer with my friends (who have a PS4) and it really was great! I'm really glad it's coming to PC so I can have it myself, and also because I've got some PS-less friends who would really enjoy it.

ah. i really only recognized it because of the enemy and the dragon. the sword looked familiar too, but i wouldn't have been able to place it with just that.

Let's just hope they improved the humans in that version of the game.

Not that it matters. I couldn't play skyrim without my "no blood" mod lol

Well we can hope that Nintendo jumps on board with the mod support. I can't imagine they'll be the only ones not to allow it.

In other news dragon quest 11 is getting a simultaneous launch on ps4 and switch, so probably not going to be a launch title. Still no news on localization. Guess they might be waiting to see how well 7/8 sell?

I'm a loyalist, but even I don't have any reason to get it because the only game I want from it is going to be on Wii U as well.

A console with handheld capabilities would be interesting, but I'd doubt they'd do it.

well, for now, but surely the game will get more exclusives over time

Seems like the rumors about being a hybrid console were true.

This actually has my interest now.

guess your doubt was wrong, huh? hahahaha.

also has my interest for the same reason + it's a Nintendo console and it will probably have great games, hard not to be excited for a Nintendo fan like me lol

CvN3WbFWIAAcUAe.jpg

for anyone not on the discord server these are the announced partners developing for the switch

Also since skyrim is running on it we now have handheld elder scrolls(hopefully with mod support like on xbone and ps4...actually not like ps4. i want full mod support). as sniper joe pointed out mk9 is looking pretty likely, and as voffie mentioned it's possible that there might be splatoon 2/dlc for splatoon(new models in the splatoon thing, and two item slots for mariokart!)

I really dig the 3rd-party support, but it'd be nice if we saw stuff like Falcom games, Tales of, and other generally PS-exclusive RPGs on the Switch... but that's probably wishful thinking, and even if they came over I have to wonder how well they'd do.

well, we can hope.

as for Skyrim, it may have been superimposed, and yeah, I'd say a Mario 8.5/Splatoon 1.5 (you catch my drift) are more likely than MK9/Splatoon 2, but I'd take whatever, since they're cool games. and I'd probably give Skyrim another chance assuming it plays well on the Switch and is the remastered version and is well supported and not just a port of the old 360 version or something...

Huh, I thought Blazer said it'd be 5 days from now that we get a reveal.

I honestly can't really feel any interest for the gimmick itself since I am totally comfortable playing on pure handhelds at home all the time anyway. Unless it has backward compatibility with the Wii U I don't see myself caring about it anytime soon. I'm way too busy on my vita did you know that SAO:Hollow Realization lets you use ALL HAIRSTYLES REGARDLESS OF GENDER GOTY MATERIAL RIGHT THERE

hmm, did I? now I'm curious when/where I said that, lol. I feel like I predicted we'd get an announcement late October or early November, but I don't remember giving a specific date. XP

that's fair, I like bigger screens for a lot of games though: more screenspace, more immersion, easier on the eyes, and easier to share/play with others (imagine playing Smash on an 8-inch screen >_>)

lol@SAOHR did you import it?

... *does not see anything related to Pokemon on that list*

POKEMON COMPANYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. YOU BETTER STEP UP YOUR GAME!

Whoa wait, skyrim is on the Switch?

since IIRC the Pokemon Company is partially owned by Nintendo... that might be way. (they're not really 3rd-party haha)

@about 1 minute. he plays it on the plane

yup, surprised me tbh

I couldn't tell what game he was playing at that point lol.

i wasn't really sure either tbh lol

ah. i really only recognized it because of the enemy and the dragon. the sword looked familiar too, but i wouldn't have been able to place it with just that.

yeah i played it a bit but the dragon was a giveaway i think which is probz why they included it

Let's just hope they improved the humans in that version of the game.

then again it's Nintendo. they've had weird policies in the past. it wouldn't shock me. but i too hope they become much more open due to being backed in a corner with the flop that is the Wii U. (sometimes failure can push people to new heights... or they just give up and die out--but I like to think Nintendo is the type to bounce back stronger than before, not be kept down)

oh? was a simultaneous launch confirmed? but either way that sounds good, and I heard SE is like, hopeful for DQ in the West. I think the best thing that can happen is 7/8 is supported, and since I personally want DQ11 because it seems like it could be the best DQ yet (though I'll have to wait before being sure, ofc, right now it's just interest) I might even buy DQ7/8 just to support the series. (sadly the games themselves seem like they wouldn't be that fun for me, but it's not unheard of for me to like some games in a series and dislike newer ones or vice-versa, so... given that DQ11 will obv be a bit evolved, I'd like to be hopeful about it/give it a chance)

Indeed it was. Seems like a good thing though :P

I'd agree with the great games part, but we've all seen how bad the wii u's lineup was. That's the reason it failed so hard. Hopefully, Nintendo has learned their lesson about that.

since IIRC the Pokemon Company is partially owned by Nintendo... that might be way. (they're not really 3rd-party haha)

Console Pokemon games are usually made by third parties, though. I see chunsoft listed there, and they're the ones who make the PMD games, but otherwise, I don't see any indication that a Pokemon game will be there.

Well, aside from the fact that the Pokemon Company's director has specifically stated that there WILL be a Pokemon title for the Switch.

???

I've played the PC version of Skyrim and I am horrifically turned off by how incredibly UGLY everyone is by default. I'd post a pic, but I seem to have misplaced the one I took back in the day.

Wow this is actually pretty rad.
Dave Grohl is rock and roll personified.

Actually a real smart genius man, but I'll never show it.

On dq7/8 if I had to suggest one I would say go for 8. 7 is really good. Probably the best in the series, but it takes forever to get going. You can feasibly have 30 minutes of gameplay without a single battle on a new file. Once it gets going it's a ride though. Just the main story is over 100 hours on average. Time travel and jrpgs just go well together. 8 on the other hand is very accessible and throws you into the action right away. The story is good, characters memorable, bosses eeeeeviiiilll, and most importantly is one of the best examples of proper cell shading. Game was beautiful on ps2, so I'm hoping it looks just as good on 3ds. Iirc they kept the full voice acting, but the soundtrack is now midi instead of orchestrated. No big loss since dq devs have done some amazing work with that in the past, but I intend to fix it anyway =p
