Hey, so I downloaded a fresh fire emblem shadow dragon rom and decompressed it using dslazy. Then i went in using a lz77 decompressy fella and decompressed a copy of the database file as well as a bmap file. I made my changes in nightmare using the correct modules to my knowledge (opened database file and edited item data and class data; opened bmap file and edited character spawning data). I saved the changes and recompressed the database and bmap files, copied the decompressed rom, replaced the database file with my edited version and same for the bmap file, recompressed the rom and launched. The changes were not made on either the database edits or the bmap edits. Am I missing a step? I'm very new to fire emblem rom hacking so sorry if this is confusing or dumb.

I didn't really have a specific tutorial. I just kind of pieced together how to do it from the readme files and random troubleshooting threads, but evidently it wasnt correct.

I really have no clue about FEDS hacking but I will have a try at this.
But why not hack GBAFE imstead it is a lot easier and lrovides a lot more documentation,
a books worth of documentation.
EDIT:
Irovides, what? it has. that was the thing I wanted to type, Irovides. Just how do I do this.

well im sure i can pick up on gba hacking, i just like the ds titles more. i really only wanna make minor balance changes so the plot isn't so linear and so it can have more replayability.

So a rebalance hack, yeah that makes more sense.
I think blazer could know how to do that if he didn't forget everything.
I am sorry, I think my last comment was little offensive towards your goal.
Well anyway you can always ask a quick question in the shout box if you need to.
