@  kirant : (03 March 2020 - 05:41 AM) New challenger approaching!
@  xcrash1998 : (26 February 2020 - 09:55 AM) Not anymore
@  Mage Girl : (17 February 2020 - 02:33 AM) I can safely say I'm so far the only person to post to this shoutbox in 2020...
@  Fire Blazer : (24 December 2019 - 03:17 AM) naw, it's when the bots make collaborated efforts to crawl places, lol
@  kirant : (23 December 2019 - 05:20 AM) What do we do on Index Day? Give each other bots?
@  Fire Blazer : (16 December 2019 - 01:39 AM) LOL
@  xcrash1998 : (30 November 2019 - 11:07 PM) New fictional holiday "Index Day"
@  Fire Blazer : (28 November 2019 - 08:52 PM) yeah just guest bots and stuff I think :( we really were active once upon a time though...
@  kirant : (26 November 2019 - 03:48 PM) No invasion. I imagine a lot of guest bots visiting for indexing purposes.
@  xcrash1998 : (26 November 2019 - 02:15 PM) How is most people online at 959 for the 8th of October of this year? Is that right? Did I miss something or was there somekind of spambot invasion?
@  xcrash1998 : (26 November 2019 - 02:06 PM) I know what you mean, it gets awkard to post something unrelated to the current conversation, and even if somebody picks up on it, it would just become a huge mess in the c hatbox if a multitude of groups talk about different topics.
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:45 PM) especially better imo if you want to update on a topic but like only occasionally (e.g. a project you're working on or a let's play of a game)
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) it's hard for me to explain precisely why but forums just like work better for meaningful discussion over a longer period of time ig
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) but that's def just not hte same ig, idk
@  Fire Blazer : (10 November 2019 - 11:44 PM) yeah, you can also kind of respond at your own pace on forums. Discord conversations are often like... it's awkward to respond to something that happened a while ago, especially if the server is active, but even just in general. since you sort of need to keep track of multiple conversations at once at times, and it's not like it has a good reply/quote system ala forums, closest thing really is to copy/paste or screenshot the text you're responding to and then type a response below
@  Elwood : (09 November 2019 - 11:29 AM) Adding on to what's been said, I just enjoy the order and structure of the forums. You can look through the threads and know exactly what people are talking about. Conversation get lost and buried on discord which is why I'm not a big fan of it.
@  kirant : (06 November 2019 - 05:31 AM) I enjoy that part of forums too. They become niche communities where you can have very specialized conversations as opposed to the cluttered mess in Discord.
@  Ezra : (31 October 2019 - 01:17 AM) Yeah, part of me wishes I could go back to the times forums were more prevalent. I really enjoyed how even several different forums based off the same franchise could feel so different. It's not like what we now is bad though, I just feel nostalgic for old times.
@  Fire Blazer : (30 October 2019 - 06:39 AM) also forums in general are just not as prevalent, there are so many other ways to interact these days, like Twitter, FB, Tumblr, etc., where you can just throw your thoughts into the void. I think that's the real issue and that the only people rly interested in forums these days are either super dedicated to whatever they're about, have a specific reason/need to (e.g. support forums), or grew up with them and are thus attached to the idea enough to continue to try and use them (this was kinda me for a while lol but things happen, I couldn't keep it up forever)

The Metal Glen (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
The Metal Glen
William Murdoch

My mother told me once of when
A young hare ventured from her den
And as she danced in field and glen
The world sang joy about her.
But wicked hateful things abound
And that young hare these evils found
Then whisked her up from off the ground
And glen was left without her.

The wicked power tore asunder
And with this cruel and fateful blunder
Cast her to a world of wonder
Would she e'er see home again?
And so hare flew that mournful day
Over the sky and far away
And down and down, beneath the sea
To a place unlike the glen.

A world of men and man's design
A place where God's light would not shine
A Hell of steel beneath the brine
Where misery's echoes boomed.
And all around her there were others
Beasts like her, all sisters, brothers,
Locked up, all, with one another,
In deep sea-dark, entombed.

And in this crypt far from the shore
The hare lay down upon the floor
Imprisoned there forever more
And left to all her sorrow.
Her tender world was lost and gone
So joy and happiness foregone
She slept and cried and prayed for dawn
To wait the coming morrow.

The hound was still, the birds said naught,
The fox denied he had been caught,
The bear cried "This is just our lot",
And surrendered to his pain.
But the cat stood up and shook his head
And rising from his metal bed
He said "For now, I am not dead,
And I will not die in vain!"

He cried aloud with much disdain
And tore about his stark domain
And said "These walls cannot contain
A force as strong as I!"
And the fox just laughed, and the birds all cried
And the bear knotted up himself and died
But the hare looked on as the poor cat tried
To break him free and fly.

He shook his chain with all his rage
And flew in anger 'round his cage
Decrying this dark mournful stage
And the hare stood up as well.
With passion did she then respond,
She chewed her ropes and broke her bonds,
And freed the cat, they ran beyond,
They ran to flee that hell.

And what became of cat and hare?
Did they break free to purer air?
To guess their fate we shouldn't dare
Perhaps their tale closed well.
But for all the beasts trapped in the Nether
All life from out the loch and heather
The flock that could not work together
Are sure still trapped in Hell.

I'm aware that it's old, but I only recently decided to read it. This was an excellent decision. I'd guess that it's about an hour's worth of content, but what an excellent hour it is. I don't want to spoil anything, but it may not be for the faint of heart.

Ruby Quest is a choose-your-own-adventure mystery story that was hosted quite a while ago. It features Ruby, a bunny girl who wakes up one day in a "cell/locker/coffin" with no knowledge of how she got there. The readers' role was to provide commands that would eventually lead to her escape. As it has been finished for quite a while now, there is no longer any way to influence the story, so it reads kind of like a webcomic. If you have experience with Problem Sleuth, it's like that. I really, really don't know what else to say without spoiling stuff, but it's definitely worth a shot.

If anyone needs a version that doesn't rely on Flash, let me know. I link people to this one because of the two I looked at, it's not missing any panels, but I will legitimately reread all of Ruby Quest to double check for a proper host if needed.

Not really my thing, but this is what you've been going on about, huh?

I "skimmed" it and pretty much confirmed this isn't my kind of thing which is good for me since I have enough things to waste my life away with as-is *shot* but I can see its appeal, it's indeed old but definitely uh... "unique", not just in the way of storytelling but kinda the story itself, lol

Yeah, it was pretty unique in that regard. Pity there aren't more stories like this; I've completely fallen in love, and could see myself spending quite a bit of time on them. maybe I'll have to make one myself

I also recently discovered that all the characters are based off Animal Crossing characters, at least in terms of name and species. It's now my sacred duty to reassemble the cast in ACNL.

Yeah, I've even had two of them (IIRC) in my GC AC village for years now, and I didn't catch on. I don't think it's terribly relevant to the story, but it adds a little weight to one of the minor twists.

Incidentally, the reason for that?

QUOTE
Before RubyQuest - like earlier that day even - I drew some comics about these characters acting up.
When it came time to do my quest, I played with a bunch of abstract designs but nothing was simple yet expressive enough, so I fell back on these characters who I’d drawn just earlier.

The rest is history.

As taken from here on the creator's Tumblr. Funny enough, though they use these designs, they certainly don't use these personalities- Ruby, for example, definitely doesn't suffer from "severe hyposexomania".

What type of atmosphere is the game? More supernatural and Lovecraftian? Sci fi? Or would that be a spoiler within and of itself?

I would consider it a minor spoiler, but it becomes fairly obvious pretty soon into the story, so it's not going to ruin anything for you.

Genre (Click Here To Hide/Show Text)
It's a supernatural horror mystery.

Kirant it takes like 60 seconds to get a quick feel for it though it probably doesn't really give an accurate whole picture

just sayin', doesn't hurt to try if you're interested, the barrier of entry is low since it's a web thing, heheh
