I've just been feeling like shit lately. Worthless, alone, take your pick. I was just wondering how you guys deal with depression.

Watch light comedy

Sleep

That's pretty much all I can tell you. Mine hasn't gone away since forever even after all of that, though.

also, try to ignore/block/avoid/murder people that tell you to deal with it or man up

I believe in judgment of humans through their judgment of fiction, for nothing else tells better of their disposition freed from apprehension.

Though I never had dealt with full on depression. But I do feel worthless, shitty, alone (a lot) every now and then. Are you like in serious depression or just down?

First of all, tell someone. Good you told us.

Second, tell someone who cares. Sometimes you can do #1 and #2 together, lol. Like in this case =P

Physical activity e.g. sports or just plain ol' working out and exercise is a good way. I would at the very least, if exercise is not your thing, spend some time outside--the sunlight and fresh air is good for you. Being locked up in school and in your house most of the time can definitely be depressing.

Also, whatever hobbies you do, start to build up more excitement for them. If you're going to play a video game, don't let yourself feel like you're depressed and you're doing it just to stay not depressed. Tell yourself it's actually a reward for your hard work--build up mental hype--and enjoy it.

Also, smiling helps. Forced smiles are scientifically shown to induce thought similar to that associated with a real smile, i.e. since people smile when they're happy, the opposite also holds true (to some extent), meaning if you smile, you may also be happy. So smile, even if it hurts a little.

Lastly, remember that while your struggles etc. are your own, there are always other people out there suffering like you. I dunno how social you are, but I'm just giving general advice here, so take it for what it is: There are people who, if you extend a hand to them, will accept it with happiness. So if you want someone to extend a hand to you, it may be easier to extend a hand first. After all, if all the loners in the world didn't make any effort to be any less alone, then they'd all just keep being alone, and life isn't some anime where some popular kid goes to hang out with the unpopular kids because he feels bad or something, lol, people are usually selfish and dgaf unless they're stuck in the same boat (figurative or literal, your choice) as you.

As some of the advice already in this thread has already said. Please tell someone in your life how you are feeling. It is not a bad thing to ask for help, it may seem hopeless now but it will get better. People care about you and will help you get through this. We're all here for you!

Also, read this, a comic creator dissapeared for a year and a half and finally returned 2 days ago detailing her experience with depression. It's a fascinating read. http://hyperboleanda...n-part-two.html

When I'm depressed, I go on the internet and b1tch about how shitty the world always is. My heart is demonic. I express how purely evil I am.

Then in turn, I listen to some music from Super Mario Galaxy an Sonic Adventure and it reminds me that not every single thing in this world will add to my pool of hate. Then I go back to writing music.

That cycle goes on and on.

I go to people who love me, and get them to tell me that they do. And if I'm still feeling down, I spend time with them. And if they aren't available, I watch funny videos. Although if all of the above fails...I usually start cutting myself, and that tends to make me feel better. Which is bad. So don't do it.
