I usually say something like "whoops" or "my bad" or sometimes even "oh..darn" instead of sorry. Sometimes I'll just give the "I see" and not even care. I only say Sorry when I actually am sorry.

In complete contrast, I have a manager who says sorry for saying sorry too much. In other words, she says sorry for EVERYTHING, even if she has nothing to do with it and she's not at fault :/ often resulting in comedic relief smile.gif

lol If I'm going to apologize to someone, I usually say "my bad."

"Sorry," when used sincerely, is a good word in my opinion. I also use it like the examples stated on the first page (bumping into someone, late for something, et cetera).

A fight is a fight. People are f***ing idiotic when they're angry. I don't expect either of you (talking to Seraph) to mean anything until things cool down. The other girl may go "Wow, what a stupid argument, I'm sorry about that," and you might accept her apology. After that you two go about your daily lives.

Even so, I don't really care if someone says sorry and doesn't mean it. I like to tell jokes, so I'll probably end up making fun of that person whenever they can hear me. It has to be when that person is around though, since talking behind one's back (aka gossiping) won't do anything at all.

All in all, this post is too long. I'll end it this way: people give power to words. If the majority of people think sorry is a legitimate word, then it will always be looked at like a legitimate word.

PS: I think it's pretty childish that the dean/principle would make you guys do that.
Look who finally decided to get a sig!

I have a tendency to not apologize to someone if I don't mean it.

I'll never say I'm sorry in a dispute until we talk about the dispute and see who is really at fault, which is usually both, and then apologize for it. I don't say sorry if I speak my mind and it offends somebody, it's stupid to apologize for free thought.

The only i really ever use sorry is when i don't understand what someone is saying like "sorry but i don't understand what you are saying/talking about" or if I happen to be in someone's way......
you get what I all mean....

the thing i hate is when people say sorry just to cover there own butt...
example is when i was with a friend of mine and out of no where i get punch on the side of my head.... the guy who hit thought i was someone else and tried to say he was sorry when he didn't give there shits either if i was fine or not.... only so me and my friend wouldn't beat the crap outta him....

anyways i said my bit......

Hey George, can you do me a favor and not post in really old topics next time? This time I'll let you go because I find this topic eeeenteresting tongue.gif

I say sorry when I regret something that has happened. If I bump into someone (happens a lot because I have these moments where I don't feel like walking through crowds of people and I just walk straightforward, hoping that other people will move) I'll say sorry and if I do something I wish I hadn't done I'll say sorry. To me apologizing is saying "I regret that _____ happened" or "I regret that I did _______". That's my personal definition. ohmy.gif
