I've been trying for 2 days to get FEditor Advanced to run as an executable jar file, but without luck. Nightmare 2 won't work either. I've narrowed down the problem to likely being that my PC won't launch jar files correctly, but after 2 days of attempting to fix this, no luck.

Here's everything I've done/tried:

-Downloaded FEditor Advanced from the link on this website

-extracted the entire folder on to my desktop

-used control panel to change the default program to open jar files was java

-double clicked the jar file - doesn't open.

-tried creating a run.bat file which would open FEditor - FEditor opens and closes instantly.

-Tried both Windows Powershell and CMD, again, opens and closes instantly.

-Reinstalled Java 64 bit.

-Removed 64 bit and tried x86 because I was desperate.

-Tried extracting JUST the dist folder from the rar file on to the desktop, which changed nothing

-Tried using JarX to open the Jar file, again, opened and closed instantly

If I tried / did anything, it says it there. If I didn't, it doesn't.

I really just hope I'm stupid and that I missed something really simple.

Does anyone know a fix?

does your folder look like this icons, descriptions

https://gyazo.com/32...13df689b3681eab

my java that opens it on my computer is in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_151\bin

and the click java where the description says "Java™ Platform SE binary"

but try to use a new file of FEditor with which you havent tried anything

Edit:

no, I checked and I had all of that set already. Tried again and it didn't work.

I'm running java 1.8.0-161 on windows 10.

Here's a screenshot of my java folders and the folder with FEditor (A new copy of FEditor as you suggested)

I hope I'm just missing something simple. I'll keep trying.

That is weird, I also got windows 10 so that is not the problem

I just noticed that I didn't update java to the newest version (so the one you have) maybe it is that, I will get back once the update is done my interect is kinda bad so that may take a while, you will problably see an update of this in somewhat 8-10 hours it is approaching midnight so if it doesn't finisch before I go sleep then, yeah.

Nope, It is not Java. So you said that when you start FEditor it blends in for a moment but then instantly closes again, I will try some stuff.

I doubt that this will solve the problem but here is my file of FEditor https://ufile.io/qb75s

Could you send me your file of FEditor to see if something is going wrong there.

Do you have python?

The programming language? No, but after reading this I downloaded it, and unless I have to do something with it, it didn't change anything. Also, your file didn't change anything like you thought.

here's another screenshot of when I try to use the run.bat file to open it: https://imgur.com/a/Vtbsq

here's the file of FEditor Adv. I've been trying to use: https://mega.nz/#F!N...bk9thrtoLtiO4vQ

I'll keep trying stuff, thanks for the help so far

Thanks for the help, but I fixed it. Never got to figure out what the problem was, however, since my fix was factory resetting my PC.

I ended up testing it on my brothers computer and it opened just fine, even though our computers are almost the exact same, java version and OS included. So I thought "maybe there's just something weird with my PC that I wouldn't know about" so I factory reset it, and, magically, it opens just fine.

Thanks for helping though

Shouldn't the .bat file be together with the jar file in the same folder.

EDIT:

I found this application, you can try:

projects.killerapplets.com/JAR_Runner/downloads/JAR_Runner%28v1.0%29Setup.exe

Oh, good to know it works now man that must have been frustrating.

I was still on this page and didn't refresh so I couldn't see. Your file of FEditor also worked fine on my pc, aswell as the batch file.

Will ever get to know what the problem was with your pc.

Hope you didn't had much on your pc.

And, well, much fun with FEditor.
